Title: RDRAM Mobo DDR Vid card?
Post by: chug4u on June 24, 2004, 06:57:52 PM
I have a Dell Computer with 512mb of Rdram memory and a Geforce4 MX 420 Video card. from what I understand is that it uses 64 mb from my Rdram. If I upgrade to a ATI Radeon 9800pro with DDR memory will there be a Memory Conflict?

The 420 should have its own ram on board.  Those Dells usually come originally equipped with onboard video chips that share the system ram, and I assume you added the 420 later.  When you select the add-on card to run the display, I'd guess the old onboard video chipset stops running, and hopefully stops taking from your system ram.  (I hope this is the case, because I'll be adding a 440 mx over my onboard video tomorrow.)
