Yep. New toy?

Pic works. Nice rifle. Is it yours? If so, what is the mfg code and date? Matching parts? Tell us more!

Kar98K. Nah, how cool it would be to have tho. :p Was having trouble posting pics the other day, I see its fixed. Doing a lil trivia in the Aircraft and Vehicles forum. But now that you mention it, it is a nice rifle. :D

Dunno if they'd have a Kar98K hehe. I'll keep looking, you tell me what you find!
-
You'd be surprised what they have. Ill see what I can dig up.
-
Still searching, havnt found it.
-
I cant find it either. The website kinda sucks compared to the magazine. They sell them at Wal-mart or stores with a large magazine selection. Im gonna look through that Gun Broker link for it.

I picked one up several years ago for $140. It's a 1938 code "42". Oberndorf if I recall correctly, but not sure since I don't have my gee whiz books handy. Very nostalgic, inexpensive and lots of fun to fire it.

LOL dude I am chatting to Morpheus right now. His father owns a gun store. Asked him how much Thompsons run for. 30K for a fully working one at times! But what a sweet a§§ gun!

Way back before Gibson`s was bought out by Wally World and the gun laws were much more relaxed me and a couple of my friends bought a lot of military riflles very, very inexpensive.
These rifles would be in metal trash cans up and down the aisles of the sporting goods section. We normaly paid anywhere from to to 20 bucks each for them. If you knew what you were looking for you could find new, never fired rifles in these batchs.
We`d take em to the shop and strip the Cosmoline off of them, cut down the barrels, relieve , float and glass bed the stocks, bend and jewel the bolts, drill and mount scopes, etc.
A lot of them we sporterized with inlays and white lined and replaced the buttplates.
It was amazing at some of the beautifull grain patterns you would find when you stripped the military finish off of the stocks.
Wished I`d kept a few of these now in full military, especialy the Garands.

My friends dad got a .303 Enfield for $15 "back in the day". Just like you said. It was a barrel with buttloads more of them.
-
Yah. I like the fully auto "short barrel" thompsons.

Garands are sweet, wish I never got rid of mine. It's the only 30'06 I like.

I went to the gun store one day with $400 cash and the intention of bringing home a M1 garand. Instead I came home $1400 poorer and with one of these.
