Title: graphics card too old?
Post by: Mika on June 25, 2004, 08:01:59 AM
Salute chaps!

I played AH a few years ago and now I wanted to take off again, downloaded the 82MB file with my poor 33.6 modem and now I have a quality that makes it impossible to play.

I guess my card is too old.

I have a Hercules Prophet II GeeForce2 mx with 32MB Ram.

Are there any updates? (I downloaded the latest nvidia drivers). When I start the aceshigh.exe I see a flickering screen that tells me that ZBuffer biasing is not supported and I need to d/l new drivers.

So what to do? Is buying a new card the only solution?

Btw... I have a 1Ghz AMD Thunderbird with 512MB DDR-Ram. Is my system too slow anyway?

Cheers

Mika

You need to update the video card drivers to the latest ones available.  See http://www.nvidia.com for the latest drivers.

Just be sure to remove (Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel) the old driver before installing the new ones.  This should solve the Z bias issue.

You will need to spend a little time in the Video and Detail Settings in the game to get more performance out of your video card.
