Am I hearing this correctly, that map of complete fog was the CT staff's doing and was not just a problem with the map and/or arena? Just curious, 'cause it seems like a pretty crappy thing to test during the first week of AH2.

It was kinda interesting. Kinda like night ... only white .. heh.
-
was fun.
-
It was interesting to say the least. But it would have been much better if it was'nt everywhere at every alt. Is there a way to make it patchy in different areas at different alts???

I should probably point out that calling it fog is perhaps not the best term, maybe visibility is the better term?
True fog has a height - around 100-200m AGL. In Ace High, it appears to be fog when you're on the ground, but it's the same at all heights when you're flying.
In this setup, only thing I can set is visibility. Maybe if Dale and Doug lived near a coast they would understand what FOG is...? :D

Not considering semantics, is that a yes?
-
I dont know about semantics, but I think its saying the same thing in a different way. :p
To answer your question, yes I think it is a new arena setting like wind speed/direction or day/night.
-
Ok, although it's an unofficial yes, I'll accept it. Which leads to the next question..
What the heck was the reasoning behind implemementing such restricted visibility for the whole week during the FIRST week of AH2? Doesn't this seem idiotic to anyone else:confused:
I can understand testing out some of the new settings in small doses here and there as we go along. But such a drastic effect for the whole week was unnecessary and a poor choice.
It may be reduced visibility, but it continued to make things quite clear to me. Some of these CT staffers are just not cut out to be making some of the decisions they make.

In real pilots terms, we call it HAZE.

well, it was not "ALL" week now was it. it was clear on a few, lighter on others and real heavy on a few. READ THE MOTD! I mean, serriously it ain't that hard, it pops up right at the begining now don't it? stop whining allready, It adds to gameplay and suspended disbelief, how realistic is it to allways be 100% visabilty? allways Daytime? crist get a grip!
-
Ahh so to keep with the realistic theme when it was socked in like that we should of just logged or maybe hopped into a GV?
I could care less what the intention was, or how realistic you think it was. It was way too heavy of an effect to impose on the FIRST week of AH2. Do you get that?? The first, some people's first look, first impression..... Seemed to be a stupid move, imo.
Go blow Mister fork and spread your fog loving ideas in your own thread. Mouth.
Bad enough we got idiots setting up arenas with piss poor conditions and then running off to go fly in the MA, if they even fly at all. Now I got to have their cronies spreading the disease in my threads?
Dispell the belief that we have to settle with these "volunteers" and

Oldman is the true master of subtlety... he's so good at it that it goes "whoosh" over most heads... but he can't fool me.

No. I know it's something pathetically simple. I can record in the windows voice recorder. I can tune the radio (.radio 5 oldman) just like the help file says, and I can even hear myself talk. But no one around me can hear me.
So I wound the cords neatly around the nifty headset and threw it into a corner. Will fuss around with it again (maybe) late next week when we return from vacation.

Dude no one around you is gonna be able to hear you unless they're tuned to "oldman" too. That's just how the tuned channel works yaknow. Try picking a number instead and see if that works. Or better yet try talking to them on range channel which precludes all that mystical tuning crap. :D

Who's say I'm campaigning you little worm?
I am quite aware of the fact that I have no chance to become a CT staffer.
But I'm curious do you find something false in my statements? Sometimes the truth cuts the worse. I'm not here to work within the system To smooch up to the CT staffers to gain acceptance would be to just become one of them, something we hardly need, and something I couldn't stoop myself to be.
I am hear to break the mold, keep the tyrants in line and speak my opinion any time I choose. If you chose less than that that's your problem.
Say no to worms and....

OldMan, go into windows control panel/Sounds and Multimedia click on voice tab then click voice test...
I have to do this everytime I log into Ace's.
