I've never had any bad problems with AH2. Anyway, latest patch (3) dropped my frame rates from 40-85 to 15-30.
Ofcourse over sea it is still about 80.

Same here basically,
Went from a playable game to not, fps dropped.
Didn't change anything graphic wise and went from 60 to 29.
Now I can get only 50 when I use default graphic settings. ANd that's all in the tower.
Just gotta A Herc 9800 pro and made no difference in fps from the old asus 4600u. Tried everything and can't get it to go higher.
All was fine till latest patch.

:( Video memory use came down about 10-15% which I guess is good, but at the same time, my frame rate drops off about 45%. I have gone from a fairly rock hard 59 fps to a fluxuating 7-35. Bad enough at times I can barely control the plane enough to keep from crashing.
This started with patch 3, and had hoped 4 would fix it. 4 increased my frames a little, but in combat situations they drop right back off.

i have noticed the frame rate fall out as well. i have an hp pavilion with an intel pent 4HT with 2.6ghz processor speed, and an ati radeon 9600SE AGP slotted with 128mb, when i ctrl i it shows i have 130.8 or something like that, at ne rate in "calm" skies i have a rather steady 59 fps but soon as i get into a furball or mass take off my fps drop like a lead balloon in a 10g enviroment. ne ideas? also i lost the location of the vid memory sink hole post, but ive also noticed that when i first get in the game vid mem used is at about 30-40mb then as time goes by it steadily increases towards max. why is this.

Exactly same problem here: FPS drop dramatically from 130 flying high alone to 15-20 when fighting (not necessarly when many planes around).
I tried reducing details/distance sliders: it made no difference.
AH2 settings:
1280*1024
Details and rendering distance: sliders at about 50%
Textures res:1024
System:
Win XP SP1 - DX 9.1
AMD 2.4+
1GB RAM 400
Abit KD7
ATI Radeon 9600pro/256 (wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-02-040515a-015958c drivers)
On board Avance AC97 audio + C-media addon audio board.
Best regards
