How did the front gunner see any bandits coming head on with that huge turret in his way?
I never saw any WW2 B29s with 4 guns per turret.
-
I get a feeling this is a Russian interpretation of an American B-29. The turrets were remote from what I've read. The planes were pressurized too, weren't they? The crew looks like Russian cosmonauts with oxygen masks on.

got a link to this news?

They are Russian crews.

Russian crews ... US markings. I see you got my point. :D
-
Those are beta screenshots Arlo.
When selecting a nationality in AEP, the crews wear that nationality's flight suit and change to that nationality's plane markings.

Well that's damned good to know then. :D

There's a few pics of them here.

The front top turrets sometimes were 4 gun models.

Pacific Fighters might be worth it for the carrier ops alone. They've implimented rolling carrier decks depending on sea conditions.

That would be cool to have here... even though in those pics the boat is flopping from side to side on glass-like water. Prolly a beta thing.

Yes it would be a nice feature to have in AH2 even with it's very basic flat water texture. Though carrier landings have always been way too easy in AH especially when you watch a C47 touch down and re-arm with little difficulty.

They shouldn't have found it hard to find any info on it, especially since the Soviets did steal one and reverse engineer it.

Heh Gixer. I actually tried that. It worked. But when I went to take off again I endo'd into the drink. I was so proud of myself too... :D

Back up to the end of the deck and then try it again.

Never claimed otherwise. I just think seeing cosmonauts driving superfortresses is funny for some odd reason. :D

Gixer,
Ever wonder what SONY ONLINE might be thinking about doing with Pacific Fighters ?........

If I remember the story correctly, three B-29's had to make a forced landing in Russia and because Russia was not at war with Japan, they were confiscated for the duration of the war.
They were reverse engineered to such detail that even some flaws were recreated. The engineers were scared to death that Stalin would punish them if the copies were not 'exactly' as the original - flaws and all. It was an amazing feat of engineering and fabrication to copy them in such a short time.
The B-29 was so advanced for its time that some of the systems had to have seemed like they were from another planet. The automated gun turrets and engine management systems astounded the engineeers. And Russian engineers have never been slouches.

The guns were controlled remotely from 'blisters' on the side, top and bottom. The turrets could be 'handed off' from gunner to gunner depending on who could see a target. They also had lead computing sights that seldom missed anything in range. It wasn's like attacking a B-17/B-24.
