I'm sitting in my chair grinning from ear to ear.  Why you ask?  I can put it down to Fatty and Wardog going toe to toe with me using the CV groups tonight.

Opposing Carrier groups about 10 miles apart and three, (or was it more?), people attacking each group with PTB's, TBM's and once we go close enough, the big guns let fly.

I had a blast and would just like to thank Wardog and Fatty for finishing New Years day with a bang rather than a whimper.

I'll have to knuckle down and finish off the PNG/Solomons terrain so a Battle of the Coral Sea scenario can be organised.

Again Wardog and Fatty <S>!

its annoying how the cv group totally disapears when the  cv is killed

ruins the whole fight.
 they need to find a way to keep the other ships floating till they are all destroyed.

much more fun that way.

Was a blast, CV fight was fantastic and we got to use a little of everything in that battle. PTs, TBM Field guns.. This dam sim just rocks dont it  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

You're right.  It is annoying that destroying the CV kills the entire group but the programming needed to do what you suggest is a bit of a nightmare.  The obvious problem is when all but one small ship are destroyed while far away from the port.
Should the lonely ship sail back to the port and pickup the rest of the group?
Should the group sail uncontrolled, (avoiding the land), untill it reaches the lonely little ship?

Both cases lead to a denial of the CV.  I would prefer to have the Carrier as unsinkable until all the support ships are destroyed, (as it is/was in warbirds).  Then the destruction of the carrier causes a respawn of the CV group at the port.  It's not he best solution, (being unrealistic), but it would then make the fights last longer and stop the kamikaze attacks by land based, bomb laden P47's that I've seen lately.

Is there a better solution to put forward to HTC?

Have ships individualy Respawn within the fleet after XXX minutes ? (Like the Hangars at the Fields) maybe ?
