anyone know how to resize a gif file?  need help resizing one for use as an avatar, thanks in advance.

Adobe Photoshop. If you post this in the general forums, or the custom skins and screenshot's forum, I bet there are plenty of friendly folks that would do it for you.
(I recommend the custom skins and screen shots, heres link to make things faster.) :)
