OK, will this be playable,  is this reasonable, or am I throwing my money away?

Mobo: ECS 755A and Athalon 64 3000+:  270.00

Better machine than 99% of the AH subscribers...
Consider going 1gb ram

Doubt it would give you any issues.
Think HT uses the same video card, mebbe talk to him if you need help setting it up.

You may wanna think hard about getting an ECS motherboard. They really are the cheap/nasty end of the market. Invest in one from Asus/Gigabyte/Epox etc.
You only get what you pay for, unless of course you buy an over priced, overhyped P4. :)

No, you would not be wasting your money. Thats a very good system.

I suggest you put out a bit more cash and go for 1GB DDR because RAM prices will soon be on the rise and 1GB is showing a nice improvement in the most current games.

my 2cents.  It's a great system all except the sound card.
get a Audigy instead.  well worth the price.  Then get Altec/lansing headphones. AHS502's. I  just got some and wow what a difference they made.

 IMHO the soundblaster live 5.1 is crap.

Its probably an Audigy.
I would say get away from Creative altogether.

Get a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. They are fantastic and cheap.

Thanks for the info guys. It's much appreciated, I'd hate to put the time and money into this thing to find out it could be much better for a few more bucks!!
