Today the United States turn over the control of Iraq to the Iraqi people. The Dictator Saddam Hussein (the major weapon of Mass Destruction in the area) is gone. I don't know what will happen next, that's up to the Iraq's, but I want to recognize and thank all the Nations in the Coalition that supported this cause and all the men and woman that gave the supreme sacrifice to achieve this goal.

I agree, im glad to see the iraqis in charge of themselves but now that we are done, bring the boys home.

Not yet, the January elections may be put on hold until Iraq is more stable. I wish they did not announce that though.

US has had troops in Germany since WW2 (1944), South Korea since 1950. I think we still have troops in Haiti and the Balkans. We have troops in Afghanistan. I doubt very much with Iran and Syria as neighbors that the new Iraq government will want us to leave soon.
I think the United States will have a sizable military force in Iraq for many years to come.

My prediction came 100% true. Successful invasion, guerilla warfare, allied losses, political peer pressure, bail out and leave the country in a state of chaos and rampant terrorist activity which did not exist there before.
Mission accomplished?
It was a huge failure to begin with.

You're probably right, but a better analogy can be found in the Philippines.

The only reason why the issue of troops in Iraq is an issue is because of the fact that they are still getting killed. However so are the civilians. When the killing of troops in Iraq stops, people will care much less about whether there are troops in Iraq or not.
edit: and in my opinion, Iraq will be a new post in the modern version of the classic cold war picket fence for a very long time.

I for one will. It wasn't worth any of the civilian or soldiers deaths there not to forget all of those who lived and are now maimed.
I could have cared less if Iraqi's killed Iraqi's before the war and I continue to feel the same way now.
