I see in the General discussions forum, there is another "what planes do you think will be next thread" which is great!
http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122200
But what about the growing number of players fighting on the ground also?
Here are my requests or like to see's for GV's
1. WIRBELWIND
(http://www.ilmatorjuntaupseeriyhdistys.fi/4_97/images/wierli2.jpg)
2. SHERMAN TANK
(http://www.artcom.com/Museums/vs/gl/300.jpg)
3. RUSSIAN T34
(http://www.mark-1-tank.co.uk/jpgs/1-6th-t34-85-599b.jpg)
4. GERMAN 88's
(http://sbl.salk.edu/~dkaiser/88FlakGun.jpg)
Now were gettin' somewhere:aok
-
Ya More GV's would rock .
-
Pay attn kids, this Brady guy knows what he's talking about:D
-
M4A3 Sherman Tank would be nice :D
-
FireFly Sherman with 17 pndr.
-
:)
-
Those tanks are exactly the ones I want first implemented into AH as well. Dunno about the 88. Those tanks would be a lovely addition tho. :D
-
yea they would
-
I wouldnt mind seeing a Panther.......
http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/581_1088646863_pantherskleur1.jpg
-
Seeing if I can make that picture bigger....
-
Would prefer if they sort out this planesets flight models first before any new fugged up ones are added.
-
AH needs a panther like it needs another variant of 109 or 190. Same for aaa gvs.
Just add a couple of allied mbts.

Shouldn't you be going to the "what planes you'd like to see" post?
Some of us enjoy the ground game, we got how many planes to choose from in the game? 30-40?
We got how many GV's ?{that are useful} 4-5
-
How about self propelled artillery ? 120 mm ?
Or a really fast and common tank like the T-34?
And an anti-tank thingie (can't remember the name), with the 88mm?
Or the Churchill. Ok, - slow, BUT able to climb steeper hills than other tanks, and with lots of main armament, such as flamethrower (hmmm, useless in AH), mortar with a much bigger caliber than our LVT, anti-minefield equipment (YET useless in AH), and so on......

Been there, done that, still doing that, still seeing players (and even non-players) asking for stupid stuff. We need yet another aaa truck like we need horses. ;)
-
Honestly, Self propelled artillery and a fast real tank would still offer something we don't have.
-
Maybe players think your ideas are stupid too Arlo. Ever think of that ?

Well gee, Jethro ... never occured to me that dimmer bulbs think brighter ones suck. Thanks for the insight. :D
-
Take a look at the top of the T34 and the top of the Sherman. The Sherman has anti air, the T34 doesn't. I'd like to see both of them but lets have the Sherman first please, unless the T34 is indestructable to aircraft guns and canons.:p
-
Your Very Welcome Arlo. Always happy to help the dimmer light bulbs.

1: "You're"
2: While I'm glad to hear it you may need to stop trying to help them until you gain a watt or two. Leave the helping to those with a clue. The blind leading the blind into traffic isn't really a good idea. :D
-
So foolish of me to think I was anywhere near as bright as Arlo:rolleyes:
stupid me
-
Needs present tense but otherwise correct. :aok
-
Coming from a guy that bought a Compaq Presorryo
p.s. what's ATI Xtasy driven anyways? must be high performance:rolleyes:
-
Works great. Sure doesn't keep me stuck in a GV. Or is that due to sucky flying? :D
-
As if being in a GV is a bad thing:lol maybe your just not good at GV's? who knows, not for me to judge
I pay my $15 a month to participate in the game and do what I enjoy.
So I must be "sucky" in a plane? I'm sure there are far better pilots than I and I'm sure you started out as an Ace too.............your a funny guy:lol
Oh, but I forgot..........this is a "flight sim" Ya..........ok:rolleyes:

T34 is fast(55 km/h?), probably the fastest tank of WW2, especially in rough terrain (wide tracks). It is well armed, up to 8 cm cannon. It is tough with a small turret. It was also extremely common.
Self propelled artillery could offer the chance of effective bombardments at great range. It is vulnerable though, - the m-8 would be a deadly foe.
-
M36 "Jackson" has 90mm gun, mounted on M10 chassis. Reliable Tiger killer, they say.
-
When it comes to the ground action in AH, the primary focus, as far as filling gaps is concerned, should be mbts. And the first consideration there should be active battle participation in number. That shows the two most glaring omissions to be:
1: Sherman (western front)
2: T-34 (eastern front)
(I wouldn't be surprised if Pyro is focusing on which of these two get the largest response.)
Nothing else should even be considered, ground vehicle wise, until those 2 are modeled.
Also take into consideration that the game's PLANE set still has lots of gaps that need filling.
Asking for some of the rare allied heavy hitters or wirbelwinds or self-propelled arty or, hev'n forbid, 3 or 4 more German uber-tanks isn't accomplishing the basic goal of setting up a balanced (albiet still light) ground vehicleset that can actually represent what was primarily used in the major battles (both sides).
-
I must say that I think that the self-propelled 120mm artillery piece would add a bit to the game.
Totally slow and vulnerable, but adding the bombardment factor, and also giving the M8 something to do.
About that M-36, I am clueless. No idea.
The Brits did some cute things to the Sherman, 75mm HV gun and some other modifications. It never had the durability to match the German tanks though (Our Panzer included), and it had a high profile as well.
T-34 was faster, more durable, and had a more effective weapon for most of the war.
For late war scenarios on the western front, the Sherman is a must.
For mid to late war on the eastern front the T-34 is an absolute must.
For early war in the desert, or even Europe, we need the Mathilda and some model of the early Panzer.

Arlo, your still missing the point. Juat because we are posting what we would like to see in AH, dosnt mean HTC is creating every model we hope for. This is a wish list. Not post the air model or ground model you hope for and have it made in a week. This is just what we hope to see in the game. We're just trying to mention some types of gvs that would used well in AH2. We all know that hardly most of our ideas will be shot down. Most of also see the large gaps in in the plane list. We also see the bugs in the gvs. But we seem to get over it and have fun.
I agree in the fact that the T34 or the Sherman should be modeled first. to balance out the powers.
-
I was going to throw in a few things, but Bluej1 & Angus pretty much covered it. Thanks all for your input.
p.s. Happy 4th of July all
-
Oh, to add, late war, both the Russians and the Brits hade some really good tanks.
Stalin, Comet, Challenger.....
The Germans had their 88mm gun which was pretty much the best there was, but the British HV 75mm (?) gun was also a true killer...
-
The self propelled artillary would be a nice aspect to gvs. Would take some practice to hit targets at long ranges. Would be great for large scale gv battles. Put away that iger in the distance that keeps killing friendlies.

If all this is is daydreaming then I guess I am but actually most of the wishlists posted ARE players wanting to see something modeled soon (even the ridiculous requests). If you're trying to say that this one is the exception and the models being asked for aren't really being requested for serious consideration regarding modeling anytime in the near future then I hate to tell you but that doesn't actually make the requests sound MORE reasonable. Bear in mind that Pyro HAS asked for player input on the following new models he'll consider working on in the VERY near future:
A new fighter
A new bomber
A new GV
Asking for a dozen or more specialized, obscure, rare or impractical models will just end up getting him to stop asking for player input. Getting together and agreeing on one practical example for each category requested would most likey get not only the requests honored but the community, at large, taken more seriously about such requests in the future.
Even if it breaks down to a community torn between the Sherman and T-34 at least you'll have a 50/50 shot. Seeing how long a list of "cool" GVs you can come up with pretty well shoots itself in the foot.
Just sayin'. :D

The biggest holes in the planeset for Tour of Duty I see are:
1. Fighters:
VVS
I -16, Mig 3, Lagg 3, or Yak 1. Soviet Union needs an early war fighter. Soviet Union is severly lacking.
LW
FW-190A2 or A3 - LW needs an early war Focke Wulf.
RAF
Early Spit Vb, Spitfire IIX for GB
USAAF
Brewster Buffalo, P-38F
JAAF/JNAF
Ki 84
Ki 43
2. Bombers/Ground attack/Transport:
RAF
Wellington I or Beaufurt I - Britain needs an early war bomber as well as Soviet Union
Fairy Swordfish - Not a real necessity but would be pretty cool to attack ships with and use in historical scenarios - Channel Dash anyone??
RAF skin for DC-3
VVS
Pe-2, DB-3F medium bombers for SU
TB-7 Heavy bomber for SU
VVS skin for DC-3
LW
He-111
Ju52 Transport
AB-250 submunitions delivery system for FW-190F
PB2 Rockets for 190F
OR
HS-129
Ju-87G with 37mm guns
USAAF
B25
B24
JNAF/JAAF
Japanese skin for DC-3
B5N2 - Not sure, this one might be in the game already...Don't fly JP much.
3. GV's - Well where does one begin....
Soviet Union
T34
Su120
British Commonwealth
Cromwell
Comet - Early war scenarios
Bishop
German Army
Panzer Mk III - early war scenarios
US Army
M4 Sherman - We gotta have this one, surprised it's not in AH already
M36 Hellcat Tank Destoyer - to take on the late war Tigers
Japanese Army
Whatever tin cup they had, most common version - Actually they did have some pretty squared away tanks for the enviroment they operated in. They were small, lightwieght and could manuver in the jungle in places the allied tanks could not go. Don't know how useful they would be except for scenarios.
Just my opinion.

From Arlo:
"Asking for a dozen or more specialized, obscure, rare or impractical models will just end up getting him to stop asking for player input"
I don't think so.
We need about 4 GV's or so to be pretty well equipped for almost any WW2 Scenario.
For Crumpp:
Cool list.
Spit IIX equals Spit VIII right? (I agree)
Early Spit Vb means a worse one. Spit Vb with trop filter perhaps?
Add:
P-39
Bristol Beaufighter
I will find more.....

Yep,
Think that was the one hashed out in that Spitfire thread. The one you bunch O' Spittards :D decided on! That is the spit model I want to see.
Need the Spit V the RAF was using in the Summer of '42. That way us FW190 pilots can get our moment in the sun smackin you Spit pilots around. Make up for the other 4 1/2 years of abuse we take!
Your additions would be cool, bro!

Would like to see the P-40F.... but I know it won't be added...

One Fighter:Gloster Meteor.
One Bomber:He 111.Why is it not here already?
One Gv:Sherman,if we have the T 34- I would never use the pnzr iv.
But I'm happy whatever we get.:)
