Title: Contrails

I was playing B-17 by microprose earlier today and noticed that contrails add so much to imersion, at least IMHO.  I also saw that if you got into an enemy plane's contrail it made it difficult to see the location of that plane, and making it more realistic.

I just thought that adding contrails to AHII may make it more realistic and add to the immersion.

Your thoughts?

contrails within 10k and above 20k wouldnt be as bad as base smoke is now..

Contrails would be cool, but I'd rather have/see vapor trails at low alt of the wingtips of a hard turning enemy. They'd be small enough (visible only within 600 to 800 yards or so) and not last long enough (maybe two seconds) to affect frame rates. It would add to the realism AND give the attacker some idea just how hard his target was pulling.

Just a thought...

yup would be nice....

whats funny is there's gonna be a watermelon load of Contrails in Rook territory....

will make it easier spotting them monkies:eek:

FRAMES  FRAMES  FRAMES,,   I think it would be cool, but can we stand yet another thing to bring our rates down.  As soon as a base starts getting banged, the smoke makes my rate goto poop.   Just my opinion..

Ahh, I never thought of FR.  If its anything like smoke is, then i may as well not play AH, cause it was like playing through a slideshow in AH1.  I guess that would be a bad thing.

all htc has to do is:

when a buff (plane) gets above 20k,make it so the fuel leak turn on and add a longer flow. And make it last/linger a bit longer then the flak bursts.

but hey what do i know, i dont know whats involved to make it work, sure would be nice though. :aok

Let the player choose to see contrails or not. If he turns them off, his fps won't be affected but he won't see the high flying planes as easily.

IL-2 already has it, and it's not so great. Maybe because altitude in IL-2 looks so cartoonish, but just saying it's really not a great feature, or at least something to worry about. Maybe when there is 10 new planes that could make them, then request it.

i just started playing IL-2 as i cant play AH2 yet and i think the contrails are amazing. but i agree that altitude makes the game look very poor.
