My Grandmother was a "War Bride" and was from Coventry. She died in the 70's from cancer. My mom was born in England while my Grandmother waited to come to the states.
My Grandfather's family was from Italy and came to America in the 20's and settled in Pennsylvania. He died a few years ago. I am not sure what he did during the war. He was a hard guy to talk to you but a decent fellow. I do know he was an electrician working for Westinghouse after the war and my mother says he worked on aircraft and she mentions "bombers".
My great Aunt Betty married an Austalian and lived in Australia until she died last year.
Anyway I thought it a cool "find".

Thanks for sharing that bit of history with us Wotan.

Ditto!
I found all sorts of old photos from the 20's through the 40's when helping my Dad clean out his old family home this last spring before they sold it. They're like little windows into a long, lost world.
Even found an old WWI helmet used for Civil defense in WWII,unused war ration coupons, postcards from different military camps sent home and a letter home from my Uncle written as his unit was progressing into Germany in 1945.
If you find more post em!!
Thanks.

I have a whole chest full of stuff but they sat in the attic for years. Most of the paper including many other photos and dry and crumbling if not handled with care.
I even found some pictures of my Grandfather's family in Italy before they came to the US.
I will scan a few later.

Where their any woman left in England after WW2?
-
See was British and worked at an anti- aircraft battery. She died in the 70s so I am not really sure what she was "in".
