ever now and then i just get fed up with the rooks or who ever flying in at 20k so i go on to 30k and try to ether kill-um or force them lower for my bish's
just asking what do you all think would be the best plane for this
just want to state that i dont want to use a P51 i never do well in it
and a P38 sounds risky up that high

Me-163 :D

spit IX / XIV

D9.
A D9 doesn't die in AH2 unless it wants to die.
-
P-47 hands down. TA-152 too if you have the time and want to tackle that planes ballistics.
-
I am yet to see ah2 on my feeble CPU, but in ah1 the P47s were at their best when at hi alts (over20k), then of course there is that long winged hi-alt perk ride, the name escapes me at this time.
My personal favorite thing to do with monkeys is to up a 262, the long range and extreme speed can allow you to come in behind the monkeys as they travel to their target. Often they feel very comfortable at 20-25k so they dont check6 as often, The 262 can intercept well under these conditions. My fave tactic was to achieve excess E, then dive in on them, cut engine before hearing range, coast in behind them nice and close, quick burst then start engine and search for next victim.
NOTHING can compare to the feeling of sending some alt monkey back to tower when they just reached cruising alt ;)

That's exactly how the "hated rooks alt mokeys" got to 20k: many many years ago they (we) used to fly at 10 k, but noticed alt-monkey knights flying at 15, therefore decided to go to 20 to drag them down.
Next move (35k) is for knights.
;)

using a TA152 at around 20 25k i still lose most fights and have to run because all i can do is turn fight at that alt were speed is hard to come by
that P47 and SPIT9 seems like some good ones
-
Our Spit 9 is actually at its best way up there.
P-47, P-38, P-51, any of them are good choices for high alt work.
If you have to go up to 50-60k, then the Ta-152. Anything under that alt and its still a piece of **** compared to the rest of the planeset.

Hands down G-10.
Except, the 109s can climb up, fight, and force down the enemy low, but can rarely finish what is started.

Well at 30K that's pretty much true of any plane unless you're willing to blow ALL that alt chasing the other guy to the deck.
I would say that its fruitless to try to "out-monkey the altmonkey". Even at 30K you'll always run into someone higher. I tend to try to stay low (I hate climbing over 10k; less than 5K is ideal and on the deck dogfights are FUN) and instead punish the altmonkeys by forcing them to have to blow all that altitude--thus wasting their time.

No plane at 20k has ever shot me down in my Yak. I don't think they even notice me.

A spit V, stay on the deck and make that "Major Nelson" dive in, reverse and kill.:D
-
Since AH2 I have been loitering up at around 20K. Mainly because my framerates are playable up there. Most of the above mentioned planes do well at altitude. Just learn one and stick with it for a while. Doesnt matter if its the best or not...most of the planes have an area that they excel at...exploit those attributes and you will be succesfull.
There are lots of good fights above 20K...the guys who dont run make it worth the wait.

Very few of them know what to do with alt. Just use patience.
-
Prefer Spit XIV high alt. Of course you get the "you gonna come down" from the enemas.
-
Wait, Lugs told me that Rooks are just Bish that have all flown up???

dont get me wrong i love flying around 10 to 15k in my yak or 109 but one day to defend HQ i took a BF110g-2 to 25k but the runs on the HQ stoped so with drop tanks full ammo i went to the front lines and found myself above ever alt monkey and forced most down but got a few kills
so yes you can out altmonkey
but flying that high is like a hole other world i must say
not sure about the SPit14 my biggest beef with perk planes is the fear of die-ing overcomes my abilty to fight so i run and act to care-ful
but i have fly the ME262 so much that flying that thing brings no fear and i knife fight with it when i need to
-
Ground pounders. The second stage supercharger doesn't even kick-in until above 21k. :p

Why chase alt monkeys?
They're the ones wasting their time, now their gonna waste yours

i reakon your best bet is to fly a goon or ju-88 up there about 15k below the alt monkey.
he will be so eager to grab an 'easy kill' that he will dive recklessly straight at you and rip off his wings, thus providing you with many more useless bomber perks!
