Polish Troops Find Sarin Warheads
Friday, July 02, 2004
WARSAW, Poland — Terrorists may have been close to obtaining munitions containing the deadly nerve agent cyclosarin that Polish soldiers recovered last month in Iraq, the head of Poland's military intelligence said Friday.

Where did it say they tested negative? They said they all contained cyclosarin and where usable from what I read.

The warheads all contained cyclosarin, said Polish Gen. Mieczyslaw Bieniek, commander of a multinational force.
"Laboratory tests showed the presence in them of cyclosarin, a very toxic gas, five times stronger than sarin and five times more durable," Bieniek told Poland's TVN24 at the force's Camp Babylon headquarters.
"If these warheads, which were still usable, were used on a military base like Camp Babylon, they would have caused unforeseeable damage."

There are some discrepancy's, though. In one the troops were led to the rockets, in the other they bought them. Also the numbers of rockets/shells don't jibe. it could also be that we really don't want the terrorists to start looking for them. Who knows.

that was a different case, these where purchased june 23rd
The CENTCOM release talks about 16 of the shells which were purchased between the 23rd and 26th of June.
It seems like the same case to me.

But the article here lists 17 rockets and 2 shells, all containing cyclosarin and useable.

Nope.
From the press release:
"The source led Soldiers to 16 more 122mm rockets over a period from June 23 - 26, 2004. Those 16 rounds were all empty and tested negative for any type of chemicals."

Let me just make sure I have the math right:
Fox News Story= 17 Rockets, 2 morter Shells
CENTCOM release= 18 Rockets, no Morter Shells.
I don't know. While there are descrepancies, there are enough similarities for me to be skeptical until more information is available. Sounds to me like there was a breakdown in comunication somewhere.
[edit], I see that I mistakenly said "shells" upstream, when they were Rockets.
