Post by: gatt on November 22, 2000, 04:35:00 AM
Ok, hooked  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

Fuka, September 1942. JG27 ace, Hans Joachim Marseille, the so-called "Star of Afrika", checked in flight the personal mount of 4°Stormo, 96a Squadriglia's Flight Leader, Lt.Annoni (9 victories). He crash landed the C.202 ... After that he was considered a dweeb by the whole 4°Stormo ... eheh

Hey, show some respect! Without Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht Italy would have been out of the war as early as 1941 and occupied by Albania for the rest of the war!

Kids today! Why can't they fetishize Fascist military hardware like normal people?

Ladysmith wants you forthwith to come to her relief
Burn your briefs you leave for France tonight
Carefully cut the straps of the booby-traps and set the captives free
But don't shoot 'til you see her big blue eyes

Hehe, I respect Marseille (IMHO one of the best western front LW pilots). I just find the whole thing hilarious.

I had to meet Lt.Annoni (hes about 90) last september but I could not. I'm very curious to ask him about the way he felt after that and what Marseille said about it.

Italian and German DAK pilots were friends but not too much. Anyway, there was respect, indeed for the skill and experience of the german pilots.
