Title: low frame rates
Post by: dcannon1 on July 02, 2004, 10:48:06 PM
Well if its got to be constructive... How does one maximize frame rates?

I've set the sliders to full right... max performance, lowest vis range.  Unchecked all the boxes, horizon... etc. Set my texture size to 128, 1024x768, 60 Frames/sec.

I'm running a Dell 8200,  P4 1.8ghz, 512kram, nvidia geforce2 64mb video card. 56kbs dialup.  Whats the weakest link?  AH1 was a dream... AH2 sucks the big one!

If I read your post right that you're getting 60FPS, you have nothing to complain about.

What is your monitor refresh rate set to (Hertz) ? If you have Vsynch locked/enabled (as you should) then the maximum FPS you will experience is the Hertz (refresh rate) of your monitor...

If you have even a solid 50 fps your fine.

Boot CLEAN! defrag HD,  nothing running in background.

Ohh & btw patch 5 added a solid 20 fps across the board for me.

I wish i could get 60... my settings are for a max of 60... I'm seeing in the "single digits" when i'm in a group (furball) of more than 10 players... frieindly or otherwise.  I'm an XO of the Nasty Dead Men,  squad nights are a ***** with this problem!!!  i'm always in a group.

Most of the time in clean air (alone), looking forward, not talking i'm seeing low 40's. Look around and it drops to the 30's. Press the mike button and the plane stops for a second mid air (no wonder i'm a sit'n duck)!   Vox on patch 5 sucks for me... i've lost vox every time i've been on since 5!!!

I've done a clean boot, defragged, closed everything in the task manager but the modem including disabling Norton virus software, updated all my drivers to the latest and greatest  56kmodem set to 56kbs (i see a suggestion from the tech god to set 33... i'll try that ).  ... lcd monitor works perfect at 60hz.
