Title: Stutter makes it unplayable now
Post by: TweetyBird on July 02, 2004, 11:19:13 PM
When AH2 first came online, I had no problems. With the successive patches for handling textures, the stuttering has gotten increasingly worse. Now anytime I get close to a plane the screen freezes. I've uploaded the newest driver for my Nividia gforce4 mx 64, and still the freezes. I'm taking a week off. I'll try it again then and if its the same - Ill be cancelling my account. Thats not meant to be whinny or snide, but I  am not going to spend 10 hours tweaking my computer everytime a new texture handling routine comes out. I'll check back from time to time and when you settle down on something I'll probably re-sub.

This just isn't fun like this, and before someone shoves a pompom in my face, I DID BETA TEST - since last November.

Ill send my dxdiag file to you.

What makes this hard to trouble shoot is, its impossible for me to make the game stutter offline. A squad mate informed me its because the stuttering is caused by loading the art of another plane. If thats the case, I really think some things need to be reevaluated. I'd bet you a buffet at the casino of your choice that you could count the number of players that play this game to ogle over other players wings, on one hand.

Edit: I take that back - it DOES freeze offline now.

GF 2 mx 400 64mb
win98se sp 1.5
dx9.0b 56.xx drivers  800 x 600 res 32bit

I did get stuttering for the 1st 15-20 mins then it  settled down and played fairly normal ..

my video sliders are about 1/3rd of the way dwn , and everything else is cranked up .   the frame rates picked up after playing for abit .  35-60 fps was avg , the last verson was running high 20's most of the time .
