Okay I will retype it because someone found merit in the idea. Thanks Nuttz.
Here's the idea: For a few hours during a set night we would have a "war" in the MA using squad based warfare and coordinated attacks within each country. No gang banging is allowed. There must be fighting on all fronts at all times. The country that "wins" will be the country with the MOST territory when the reset is forced. There are no icon limits or plane set limits. The idea is for a dynamic war. The only rules are no gangbanging and if a country has significantly more people than the other two, then a sqaud or two will be politely asked to switch sides for the sake of fair play. Significantly is 20 or more people which generally constitutes a single large squad. Loners can either form their own squad for this single night or they can ask to fly wing with one. THe idea is to coordinate the attacks on the different fronts within each country by using individual squads as "strike groups". Squads can choose what they wish to do, like CAPing a field or attacking a field and they can choose which front they want to fight on. Squads already designated as naval or marine squads get priority on using the carriers.
Suggestions welcome... as long as it's CONSTRUCTIVE!!!

Isn't that what scenarios are for?

This isn't a scenario. This is a full scale war using what we have in the MA without a LOT of organization for it.

So why do non aligned players have to give way to squads???? Seems squads only have one or two nights for squad activities. Does that mean if it isn't their designated squad night the squad members can't fly??? Seems only fair if you are going to tell non squad players when and where they can fly.
I kinda figured every players $29.95 entitles them to fly when, where and how they want. Especially if they are paying the full $29.95 rate!

As I said for one night you could fly with the squad of your choice or form your own. This is to guarantee COORDINATION as I said before. But you know what.. it's obvious no one is ready for something like this. Especially not you Maverick. Consider the idea dropped and buried, when earth is full of open minded humans I will revive my idea.

Ya, know this doesn't sound too bad at all, maybe even some people new, or old and squadless just may find a squad and/ or fun people to fly with, Without having to commit to a squad.
And SW, you have a thicker skin than that to listen to one narrow minded person.
I'm game ( and squadless )

seawolf,
If you want to play king of the hill and make rules for other players to follow, do so in your squad. I think part of your idea has merit. It doesn't fit in the MA nor should a restriction on playing in the MA be implemented. If you want to have a "war", design an event and have at it. Those who are interested are certainly welcome to join and play by your rules.
I have limited time to play and do not want what time I have to be compromised by your insistence of restrictive participation. I don't pay you to play and do not feel you should have a say as to how or when I play. If that makes me narrow minded, fine. I'll stick to being narrow focused on what I want to do and am paying for. The opinions I care about are my family's and the man in the mirror when I shave.
I am a maverick, hence the handle, and have been all of my life. I left the 13th TAS, not because I didn't like the squad but because there was a change that mandated what the members would fly online. Some times I do fly the 51, but I also gun on ships, fly other planes and even buff. I couldn't do that with TAS so I left. Leaving was painful as I was TAS back in AW on GEnie. I do value having flexibility to do what I like. Your idea would remove that flexibility for me.
Take my objection personally or not. It's your choice.

I'm not playing king of anything here. It was an idea, presented to every single paying customer of HTC to see if they would like it. I'm not restricting anyone, nor am I enforcing anything unto anyone. I designed something for a simple few hours out of 356days a year for people to try something out in the MA if they wanted to. I did not tell you that you MUST join a squad permanently, I said you have to in order to participate in this IF YOU WANTED TO. You are taking this as if I am telling you this will happen and this will happen. Ideas are simply that, ideas. I offered to accept suggestions, instead you rebuttle with an offensive post telling me that I am telling you and every other loner to join a squad and you must participate. What's a few hours to you anyway? If you base your life on a few hours then surely you have lead a boring life. I said nothing of restrictive participation in my post, where exactly did you come up with that nonsense? I don't have a say as to how or when you play, like I said before it was an idea. A simple 3 hours in the MA is really too much for you? I'm sure HTC can refund you the 20cents that time is worth. You seem to think I am enforcing a 24 hour "fly this way or else" rule. It's a one time thing, that offers everyone a war to fight in. You can't fight a war by yourself can you? It would just add something different. Yes I could do it in the SEA, but how many would want to fly there? Not only would you get perk points or whatever you desire fighting this 3 hour war but god forbid you might actually enjoy those 3 hours out of 365 days a year and potentially a 100 year life span.
I'm not telling you to do anything, I gave an idea and you reacted as if I was a general ordering you into a sea of gun fire to your death. 3 hours... think about it you might not even be in town when/if that occured.. what would YOU miss?

seawulf judging by this post it would be a nightmmare lol
I think you like me want a more dynamic experience..more strategy..more realism ..more historic...with proper 'wings' of planes....squads opperating from their own bases etc but as you can see some are here for a quick blast whilst others want almost a shootemup for a quick fix and others havent got the time (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
Set up a scenario where the rules are more relaxed..eg not the restrictions on bombing like afrika set it up once a week, invite squads and let it build its own interest.
i would gladly join and im sure 3./JG2 would be glad to fly together for a war with squads vs squads.
finally we could match up against 13th TAS or fubars all together (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Seawolf,
I stated my objections to your idea. It is my choice as to how I play and at what time I play. Your plan was to restrict the MA as I read it. Whether the 3 hours or so was when I was online or not isn't the issue. Your idea has merit as I said, but in the SEA not in MA.

well, a different map might do the trick. Take a look at my paint picture of a map i'd like htc to look at.
Of course, the grid (aka, size of map) is not realistic at all (hehe) and airfields, vbases, cities and factories are not present nor are any elevation except for some big bellybutton volcanos. But again, its just a draft, what's important is the land/sea distribution and that the land masses should be separated by 2 sectors of water, that way we would have some real carrier battles and invasions on beaches (once troop transport ships are introduced) instead of this airborne-hopping gangbanging war. I THINK that this map would make gangbanging harder 'cause the landmasses and fields would be more separated.
Take a look:

THATS a damn nice map!! Maybe a little much space between countries but a HELLUVA nice start! Thats the kinda map I would love to come back to (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

SW, the only big challenge I can think of at the moment is how are you going to enforce the rules?
From my experiences in scenarios, where the CM's have absolute authority, there are still people trying to find the loopholes and circumvent the rules. Imagine what it would be like in the MA!
Don't get me wrong, I like your idea, but it assumes that everyone would gladly abide by the rules. I just can't see that happening.

I'm not sure it will prove managable during actual combat. People wont be watching the buffer for instruction being one problem.
I think the better idea is to run a scenario at least once a week where the ma is completely shut down and all participants must fly the scenario. This will do 2 things..introduce much of the community to the fun of scenario play and provide the "fairness" ur looking for. BTW, this fairness idea is kinda squirelly...one of the basics of warfare is to get alot of ur guys concentrated on a lesser number of the other guys and wipe'em out (termed as "mass" in militrary doctrine). Generally, you can keep ur casualty's down by multiples greater than the increase in friendly troops to nme. There is no "fairness" in war.
Either way, i prefer the "forced scenario" option...maybe a 90 min or two hour event or so.

Tac, ya need some changes to that map.
The teams need to be of equal range from BOTH others.
The teams will typically hit the closer enemy, in this case the team in the top left.
The team at the bottom and the team top right would typically fight less often.
IMO..

hehe like I said its just a sketch. just adapt it so that the distances are the same then, but leave a HUGE lake in the middle so carrier wars can be carried out. =). Thnx for the feedback though, I wish I could understand the terrain editor (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
