Yesterday a F6f5 blew by me I shot off his left wing tip. And continued to persue him figuring that the damage would cause him to have to crab/ put in inputs which would slow him down. We were both on the deck and I chased him for about 4-5 minutes. He continued to pull away from me. At some point, I would think our speeds would equal, but it actually seemed that he had a speed advantage on me now that he had less airplane...
Have film if you need it.

Hard to imagine this is modelled but, less wing might cause less drag....
Frankly, in like aircraft, I have observed this issue before...once they are ahead and faster, it never seems to equalize.
I saw this in many missions......slowly the leaders pulling away.

Theorically yes, but for flying straight with dmgd plane you need full rudder and lots of ailerons, causing drag.
Moreover, such a flight setup mostly makes the plane not exactly parallel to your vector.
Those factors IMO should produce more drag than the missing wingtip.

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but are you sure you took off a wingtip?
I once could have sworn I took off both Elevators from a Hog, but as it turns out, it destroyed neither. I don't know what those bits and pieces were coming off, but they weren't what I thought they were.
I'm assuming you saw the big missing wingtip, and not just parts falling off though, right?

Like i said, I have the film to prove it. My f6 hits 330 with wep engaged (which is correct speed otd)
His f6 continues on at 350 knots, actually gaining speed from 340ish.

Ok, send me the film, I'll answer my own question.

I was flying a spit v the other day & had a ship flak take off most of my right wing. I flew it home & landed several kills.
I don't know why I was able to fly it home. I shouldn't have been able to fly.

Sikboy,
its otw, and zoom in youll see his left wing clipped. Then watch the MPH on the side.

i wanna see the film too email in sig

Wing damaged aircraft have traditionally been faster than undamaged planes in AH.
For fun sometime, knock both wingtips off some plane and see how much of a speed boost you get

i saw balsey's film and the f6f he was chasing was a good 20 mph faster than his f6f . AND the enemy f6f was having to correct constantly while being chased. IMHO it should have been slower with all the rudder inputs

Knocking both wingtips off should speed up a plane. Less lift=less drag=more speed=higher stall speed. Knocking off one tip could speed up the plane too, if you put in a little aileron to counter the roll, you could reduce the drag/lift on the undamaged wing enough that you don't get yaw, and therefore don't get drag from the rudder. At least this might explain what's happening in the flight model.
