Title: Oshkosh Comming
Post by: Grimm on July 07, 2004, 10:29:16 AM
Yes Sir,

Just under 3 weeks till the Greatest Show on Earth takes off again.   Oshkosh Airventure 2004

http://www.airventure.org/ (http://www.airventure.org/)

Will anyone from HTC be attending or Any AH Players going?

I expect Arrow (a cross country racer) and Kool of the 327th will be there, GunrCAF and myself will be making again for the week. I am surprised this hasnt turned into a gathering for the AH Crowd at least in the midwest.

There will be Hundreds of WWII Aircraft on hand for everyone to see and watch fly.  Also Thousands of other aircraft will be there. There are tons of other things to enjoy as well.

In addition,  There are always several good Flight Sim Demos and sometimes flight gear to check out.

A big plus this year,  its not right on top of AHCON

I'll be there for sure, it isn't a long drive for me either. And remember that the B-17 will be there again this year giving rides and tours. For a mere $395 you can get a ride in the beast (can't fly in the cockpit though). And for (IIRC) $6 you can take a walk through tour. The Post Master in the small town i live in took the flight last year (ex Nam pilot) and said it was worth every penny. I think my wallet says walk through tour.
Peace

Actualy I dont know if Aluminum Overcast will be there.   It recently had a landing gear colapse and needed repairs. The thing With EAA is, wouldnt suprise me to see them get it home by then,  but I wouldnt plan on it this year.

It is an awsome ride, Gunner and I did it a few years ago.  Its something Ill never forget.

I would bet that there will be at least 1 B17 on hand for a walk thru.   I havent seen a guest list,  but most years there are several B17s on hand.

6 Days away.    (cant wait)  :)

I was looking over things that will be happening and I thought this might be of interest to some of you guys.

Wednesday, July 28, 11 a.m.
North American P-51D, with Col. C.E. “Bud” Anderson and Jack Roush

Returning this year is the very popular presentation by Jack Roush, NASCAR Race Team Owner, and Bud Anderson who is a 16 Ľ Victory Ace, flying the P-51 Old Crow. Jack has owned the P-51 with the Old Crow paint Scheme for several years. In 2003, he completed restoration of his second P-51 and given the paint scheme Glamorous Glen III. Both airplanes will be on display at AirVenture 2004. At the young age of 81, Bud plans to fly the Old Crow during the “showcase” portion of the air show.
Jack’s enthusiasm for the aircraft and their history is infectious. Enjoy the special interaction between two friends when you see this presentation by Jack Roush and Bud Anderson.

I checked a few of these show cases out last year and they were awsome.   I got a chance to final talk face to face with Howard Pardue.  He was show casing his FM2 Wildcat (which he claimed to be the funest of all his warbirds to fly)   I also got to talk one on one with Jack Roush as well.
