I posted a message, HERE (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=122921) , about what I thought was a bug. It looks as if HTC changed the kill credit stuff.
HiTech said;
You do not get a kill for a ditch.
You get a kill for a capture.
Difference between the 2 is if in enemy or friendly territory.
then Soda asked;
Does the system awarded a kill when a plane ditches because they run out of gas in enemy territory?
HiTech said;
Ditching in enemy territory is a capture. So yes kills would be awarded.
Then I said;
I was under the impression that the "shooter" was being rewarded for "removing an aircraft out of action" not killing or capturing the pilot ?!?
If the plane lands in the water (AFTER BEING SHOT UP BEYOND BEING ABLE TO REMAIN AIRWORTHY), should it not be distroyed as it sinks to the muddy bottom? Why is this not considered a kill credit, weather in allied or axis territory, and right in the middle of the action withen sight of the shooter!!!!!
Same for his or her own friendly area! If there is a fight and the con ditches withen "sight" of the shooter, the shooter should be rewarded for removing an aircraft from service! However, on land there is not much room for ditching which is good, but in the water?..lol, the bloody plane is GONE and should be given credit to the shooter for...let me see..."shooting it down"?
Thanks
PS: Here is the way I would do it.
1. Of course the inflight "Kill"= Credit. The pilot has his proof on "gun camera" or "witnessed" by fellow pilot or "ground" "spotter" personel.
2. Witness (other than "gun camera")= Credit. The con ditches or crashes in the water or on ground withen sight of the pilot or a witness (other allies withen sight say D15 (fifteen) in allied or axis territory even if the shooter is long gone.
Is this not the way it was done in WWII?
You can get credit if a con doesnt have a scratch on him if he ditches in nme territory due to running out of gas, but you dont get credit if you shoot him full of holes, kill his engine, remove valuable parts and he ditches his aircraft, airworthyness beyond repair, in his own territory??????? Doesnt make since to me.
What do you guys think?
-
I think "whitness" is actually spelled "witness."
-
I want the five kill * from Fighter Ace :)
-
I think you meant whether and not weather.
-
and sense rather than since.
sorry couldn't help it. :D
-
And "within" instead of "withen."
-
Seriously, though ... kill credit ain't all that. Probably half the planes that went down due to damage from another fighter weren't "properly credited" in WWII. Then again, there were planes credited that weren't shot down at all. I just see it as some accidental realism. Maybe it'd be cooler if we either had to have film rolling or a witness AND rtb alive (land intact if gunfilm is needed ... witness rtbs as well if the witness is needed) to get credit for kills. Without that then no glory ... just results (perks and ... is there points in this game?). :D
-
lol, ok I attended Brady Spell-101 :D
-
If you've taken damage and ditch, I can see awarding a kill to the person who did the most damage to you. I've always hated shooting up a plane only to see them ditch and get no credit for it as in AH1. But why should a kill be awarded for a ditch unless someone did damage to your plane regardless if you ditch in enemy or friendly territory? That's liberal insanity :D ..

I think if you stay around to make sure they are dead instead of worrying about staying "alive" and running at the first sign of danger, it wont be a subject of concern. One way or another one of you will be dead and not ditching. Unless you watch them blow up/bail out you shouldnt get the kill.
-
I think awarding kills is ok now. If your enemy can ditch it means you dont hit him enough. If you want to get kill so much just shoot him down on ditch
-
maybe they should award kills for vulches since they didn't count in rl either? if you can land a damaged plane WTG! I sure cant.
-
I like the way ditching is setup in AH2.
I remember when I transferred from Warbirds to AH1 I learned that in AH1, it didn't matter if you made a successful ditch because the other guy always got the kill. This made a ditch attempt fairly useless, you might as well bail.
In Warbirds, the other guy did not get the kill if you ditched in friendly or neutral territory, thus giving a damaged pilot incentive to attempt a ditch. Cudos to HTC for making this change.
I now look forward to ditching when I am severly damaged and denying point mongers their kills as often as I can. Only a moral victory, but well worth it !!!
P.S. If it makes PsickHawk feel any better, it was I that ditched in the 205's ……………………………… muhahaha !!!!
-
HT didn't make a change. ;)
-
Then why the sudden issue with ditching, eh?
-
Someone suddenly noticed it, eh? :D
-

Id think you would get credit for for knocking out a manned aircraft rolling or just barley in the air.
-
HTC did make a change. I have never had a con ditch under me and not get credit!
Whats up with all the name calling, did I anger some one?
Oh and to DucktorEvil, I just wont let you ditch anymore
-
opps sorry slash meant to put shouldn't not should. im an idiot:o

Guess it never once happened to you in injun territory. No change was made. You and x2lee need to switch whatever brand of beer you're drinkin'. ;)
-
argh!!
-
If I put bullet holes in a plane and that plane doesn't make it back to base for a landing on the runway...
I want credit for a kill. I don't care if the guy runs out of gas, can't stay aloft, or rolls the plane on landing.
-
Want in one hand and poop in the other, glory hound. ;)
"Dweeb01 landed 2 kills in a Spitfire V of 'We da baddest"
Dweeb02: WTFG, bro!
Dweeb03: You da man!
-
I just want those damned flying midgets that keep stealing my flying juice out of my aircraft, they steal it even faster in AH2,damnit!
-
All ditches are kills nowadays in Warbirds
-
Good for Warbirds. *ShruG* :D
-
Hey Arlo, I really am kinda getting tired of all your pathetic remarks

Hmmmm .... did my response to save ricochet and hit your butt? :D

Arlo hope you do test new versions of flightsims whatever brand - if you are lucky you might get more out of your hobby.
I fly WB
I recently tested AH2
I test Target rabaul
il2 etc etc.
For me online combat flight sims competition are good.
Il2 has best graphics ( but limits to 32 users) , and good gameplay. limited planeset and scenarios are limited.
WB3 has good graphic and best terrain ive seen so far. gameplay lacks compared with AH2
AH2 lacks graphics and has best gameplay of them all.
TK not ready yet but has very good potential of them as a sim ( not neccesary game) IF they manage to make it gold.
wwiionline best groundwar : period.
I wont get into FMs etc, i hate long messages.

Ahhhh. My bad. I've only flown AHII. ;) :lol
Cut to the chase .... the kill credit/bail/ditch/capture/die system in AHII isn't any different than it was in AH (since the first day I played) .... so to suddenly discover how it works after a long time of living in blissful ignorance about the details and "protesting the change" amused me. Nothing personal. I think Hawk'll get over it. :)
I enjoyed AW and WB. TR is coming along. WWIIOL didn't hold my interest long with the FM. Never did give FA a try. But what system they use really doesn't have anything to do with this. :D
