Not sure this has even surfaced in the US yet but Richard Armitage, the Deputy US Secretary of Defence is the latest member of the US Administration to lay himself open to the suggestion of interfering in Australian politics.
The Australian Labour Party (the current opposition party) has determined that they will withdraw Australian troops from Iraq by Christmas if they win the next election. Mr Armiatage has decided to publicly announce that he believes the Australian Labour Party are actually spilt on the issue. Whatever the rights or wrongs of keeping Australian troops in Iraq the last thing the US needs is to antagonize an already sceptical Australian public further by seeming to interfere in the next General Election. Doesn't someone somewhere have a clue and advise these people?

Same thing happened in Spain. The opposition party was going to pull out of Iraq but the less than bright and non-independent thinking types in this country blame that decision on the AQ bombing.
So watch out. I predict AQ, or someone claiming to be them, will set a bomb off over there too and then all you Australians will be the butt of jokes told at Schlitz guzzling parties in doublewide parks all across America.
