Ok.. I got film of a flak panzer doin about 195-200 mph; on level ground in what appears to be reverse. Closest hill was about 8 miles away.
Before I send the film on to HTC, and trash what I thought was a good pilots name and rep fer hacking or gaming the game; can somebody please explain why or how a Panzer can do 200 mph on level ground; sustained?
If this is a known bug (saw no mention in the bug forum) WHY in hell is it not fixed?? If not fixable; WHY does HTC not disable the damn vehicle so it's not used to game the game?
Seriously cheezy moves; using it like that..
Thanks..

It was me.
Been seeing others do it, and figured out how it was done.
Here's how:
Park a tank on a hill, pointing uphill.
Put it in gear, engine off.
Give it a nudge with the joystick, let it roll.
Start the engine and the darn thing will go about 200 mph even on level ground!
They will accelerate like mad in 1st gear, maintain speed in 6th.
It seems to work on all ground vehicles.
This is a pretty fun bug, cheesy yes but I hope it stays...
Prolly not.

This was implemented on purpose to make up for the time it takes to go up hill.
Thanks,

Oh. Well; hey; I've discovered that if I ground loop the pony to the left three times; when I take off; I have unlimited ammo and can fly mach 2 without any trouble at all; and it accelerates like a top fuel dragster.
Surely; the rest of you won't mind my using the plane this way.. right?
I mean; since I saw somebody else do it; it's ok fer me to game the game; right?
Sheesh.
HTC; yah gotta patch this or disable the affected vehicles. This little tank gimmic truly sucks. This kinda stuff in the sim with just a few guys doin it is enuff to ruin it for everybody. Sure ruins it for me.

By the way hang. Was a blast duking it out with you tonight.
You are one of the best pilots at evading fire with angles instead of warping or fire evasion jinking...
I learn somthing everytime.

Hang,
Sorry I ticked you off so badly.
Have you ever spawned from 56, using the NW spawn point, to the mountain above 27 in the old map?
Tanks could go 200mph there also. Coasting, but still 200 mph.
Was that a bug?
How many took advantage of it?
Why wasn't that bug fixed?
Because it was a hoot and it was fun from the attackers or defenders point of veiw.
It's also hard as heck to shoot or turn without killing yourself at those speeds, so it's not quite as uber as it sounds.
I am not trying to claim that I am anything more than the total dweeb that we all know I am. But I am sorry that I ticked you or anyone else off.

One things for sure;
We had better have tank races before any patch comes out!
How about the SEA on Wednesday night?

Hiya Pongo.. LOL; I love those canyon fights. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Took a long time to wear down the corners in those meetings.. I got lucky once in the pony, but the real fun was the first time I ran across yah, when yah killed that goon. I was roaring at my monitor "YOU BASTIDGE!!!!! You killed my GOON!" I kicked the B26 over on it's back and dove down into that hole; nose guns blazing; wings groaning... and gotcha! Great fights; great flyin!! <S!>
Eskimo; yes I remember the hill over 27 from 56. One place in the sim; where we could have 'tank races'. No complaints. All were aware, we all enjoyed. But it was ONE place. I never saw 200mph tanks anyplace else; and by the time they reached the field at 27; they were normal tanks.
This gimmic you guys were using last night can be run anywhere. All thats required is the 'secret password' and wallah; we have 200mph tanks; anyplace, anytime. That sucks.
I get a bad taste in my mouth when I run across defensive moves that look like stick stirring; and the sim doesn't seem to preclude it anymore.. Do you find it 'interesting and satisfying' to waste half yer ammo loadout trying to pick off a guy dancing all over yer FE because he's stick stirring and gaming the game? How do you feel after trying to kill a stick stirrer for 5 min; only to be picked off by his countrymate and the stick stirring bastid gets to run off free?
Feel like running right out and spending another 30 minutes gettin into a killing postion only to find another stick stirring jerk? This crap is bad enuff.. now we got stinkin 200mph tanks all over the place.
You know it's BS; yet yah do it anyway. Why? Is it 'FUN'? Or are yah using it to obtain and unearned, unfair advantage over yer adversary; and kill him with it? You were not 'racing'... I watched you hose two planes outta the sky while running across the terrain in reverse at 200mph. Gaming the Game. It sucks.
I sure hope HTC fixes it. Soon.

All this time I've been driving 1/2 hour to get to a base and I could have gotten there in 5 min?!
DOH!
Think I will still drive 1/2 hour.

Is it just me, or does anyone else wanna do the "Evil Kanevil"? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Hang, this is an entirely diffrent matter then a Mach 2 pony. The vehicles suffer terribly from long ranges to fights. Besides, you know how easy it'd be to flip one of those bad boys?
I'm gonna set up a competition tonight. Gonna go and launch off a cliff, and see how deep into enemy territory I can go before reaching Terra Firma (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I told Hitech about this about a month and a half ago. I also told him that I had film opf myself doing this. He told it was not a bug that he couldnt duplicate it. I thought it was just me that could do it. I did it in reverse the other night on accident. I spawned i believe it was nw of 33. It puts you directly on a slope i put it into reverse instead of first then proceeded to blast into the mountain directly behind 33 at aprox 200 mph! I believe disco was there and saw it. I was going to list it in the bug section of the forum but HT said he couldnt dupicate it so i didnt.
-
Rebel, but it can totally ruin captures/totally dominate catures, with vehicles racing in.
Imagine yer in a 190A8, you spend all your ammo taking vh and ack down. Then you drop your egg on one of the panzers that upped before vh was dead. Your squad mates do the same, all flak ded.
So, these guys race in a 200mph - faster than you can rtb, refuel, return.
Totally useless to bust panzers and flak if people start dweebing it out - and believe me, they will.
I'm just afraid this will make captures even harder, unless you dweeb out and 200mph storm a base.

Ok then, give me a 6,000fpm climbing C.205 to make up for the time she takes to go up and reach those strato-buffs at 35K
LOL

I saw two tanks do this last night from a distance. All I could see was two brown dots screaming across the ground toward the Bish HQ. Until now I thought they were UFOs.
I agree that this definately needs fixed right away.
-
Incredible. Gatt.. u consider using 200mph panzers is justified because it would otherwise take too long to get into position?
That in exchange for returning the panzers to correct parameters, you should be given an uber 205 to hunt a buff pilot that invested an hour and a half of grab time to get to 32k? Damn. I'm finding out all sorts of things I wish I didn't know about people.

Want to repeat this bug? Hit A11, grab any vehicle, and drive down the 5k slope. I think I hit 300mph w/Panzer doing it yesterday offline. Couldn't read the speedometer since bugs were hitting my face like .30 caliber slugs! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Another one for the books:
At A10, BETA map, I got an M16 and later an Ostwind to stick to the East wall. A10 sits up at 3.5k I think, with steep slopes. The East wall is nearly vertical about half-way down. Provided I went slow, I could keep it on an 80º hill no problem. Just stick it in first gear and hold the stick back to keep the brakes on. Hit it going about 10mph and you can drive down a near-vertical hill.
I can post both film and screen shots of either phenomenon. You ask and they'll be here by 5pm PST.

I think you misunderstood Gatt- He was giving an analogy very similar to your "ground loop to the left three times". I don't think he meant to say he was asking for a super 205.
I do agree with your sentiment, though. I could accept tanks rolling downhill at 200mph... sorta. Having them shoot across the flat terrain at that speed is too far IMHO. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Hangtime bud,
I was joking. It was a paradox, after Nath post. An ironic post, that is (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I do hope this is a bug and that HTC will fix it ASAP.

Hey!!!! What a "perk!!!! Now we all want to see players rewarded for being able to game the game don't we??? Think about it, this could be a real perk idea. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)
You find a bug and exploit it. This improves your points and you get rewarded with a new polished perk plane / vehicle so you can game the game even better!!!! Lets unballance the playing field even more!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
Hey this is sure to make AH a more realistic sim yet! What should the perk be for stick stiring? For the 200 MPH panzer?
I know!!! We can ask for commando sheep to invade an enemy field and vulch all who use it!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I was probably the most skeptical person when it came to perk talk, but after talking extensivly with HT at the con about perks, this perk thing is gonna work, believe me.

What in the he_l is a perk? And not the coffe pot term either!!!!
I thought I knew what is was, but it is used in different ways!
Could someone enlighten me??
Thanks!!

HiTech:
Put it in 1st gear, engine off, nose uphill.
Nudge the joystick, coast up to 20 mph or so (rolling backwards), then start the engine. Now your Indy.

How about popping the tires or throwing the tracks if the speed of any ground vehicle goes over 60? Reverse, neutral, forward...any of them. IMHO it might add a bit of realism -- sorta like ripping the wings off a diving airplane?

Swager,
Perk. Getting a "special" plane based on high performance by the player. In other words, If you do well in playing the game you get an even better plane to play in. You enjoy better capabilities than those who did not earn sufficent points to "earn" that plane. Plain talk, You are already better than most by an arbitrary level set of points so you now get an even BETTER plane so you can be better yet.
Ain't equality wonderful? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Using spawn points that allow you to race down hill is one thing....but exploiting a bug like this is another matter entirely. In TOD 8 I was stuck in ground vehicles almost the entire campaign because of a piss poor excuse for an ISP <Mindspring>. With all the hours I spent rolling from spawn point to base I would never use this bug even if I knew about it. Those that are exploiting this bug are nothing more than cheaters IMO. like finding a cheat code in any other game, it has no place in the MMP environment. Anyone that I see doing this will get no 6 calls or help whatsoever from me and I hope many others will do the same.

hi all:
first off, Hangtime, what is stick stirring, what does it do, has anybody seen me doing it, and if so, i am sorry for doing what ever it is.
second, Fury, if I loose my tracks or blow a tire, can I call the auto club to come fix me up.

My thoughts on Indy-Tanking;
Gunning at Indy speeds is much harder than at 24 mph, the gun and sight shake all over the place. I have been averaging about 2 or 3 AC kills from a Flack Panzer at normal speeds. I had one 2 kill Indy sortie, and maybe 2 or 3 one kill Indy sorties. Most of the Indy sorties that I did last night ended in rollovers, endows, or getting whacked by an enemy AC. IMHO, Indy speed gives an Osty no advantage against AC.
Indy-Tanks seem a bit easier to kill than their snailesk brothers. Knock a track off and she cartwheels or endows. (BTW Hang, did you bust my track with 50 cals? I never saw you. If so, <S> dude.) I have yet to chase and Indy-Tank/Osty, but I did a lot of hunting at 56-27. I found that I would often get big multi kill sorties against attackers while I was in a Spit, Tiffy or Panzer. The AC also has the choice to engage or not, until someone finds a bug that allow Osties to fly. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Indy-Tanks obviously have a huge advantage in being able to get to a field in very little time, as little as 3 min. Prolly the main reason why they should be removed. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)
I really would like to see this bug remain, perhaps in the TA if possible? Or maybe a special dweebs only arena. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) If you haven't tried to Indy-Tank, do so off line or in the TA before the patch comes out. It's the funniest dang thing you have seen online yet.
