"A young woman and her baby were attacked in a suburban train near Paris on Saturday by unidentified men who drew swastikas on her stomach with a pen in what police said was an anti-Semitic assault."
Outrage (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/449966.html)
Of course, the ourtrage in France will be caused by the fact that the victim and her baby weren't Jewish after all. Those thugs must be apprehended and re-trained!!
-
"French Interior Minister Dominique de Villepin asked police to find the attackers within the shortest possible time, his ministry said in a statement."
Isnt this the same guy who tried to protect Saddam before the war?
-
Wow, what a totally pointless statement.
-
"The men of North African origin also overturned the pram with her baby of 13 months."
So that is where Bormann went to, and all this time we were looking in South America.

The thing that turn me into rage is that 20 persons were there and didn't do a thing!
Violance happens everywhere in the world but no assistance when someone is in danger in front of you is just sick.

I'd have stepped in. 20people w/o knives vs. 3 pansies w/ knives. Majority rules.
Around 1900 a study in London, England was initiated. The basis was that say a Murder took place in an Apartment Complex. All of the residents would pass the urge to "call the law (per se)". Thinking "my neighbor will call the police on this, so I don't have to". But to witness this, and just stand there looking stupid?! Naw, that's just BS.

Are citizens allowed to carry guns in Paris? If not, too bad, you can bet 20 armed people wouldn't have stood around while that happened.

Amen to that Ouaibe, and therein lies the honor of those there.
Where I am from if 20 folks where there, 20 would be doing thier best to thwart the antagonists.
Such is the southeast united states on a sunday night.

Answering a question by an another question is a statement of ignorance. W. Smith.:)

Now that you got your pride issues settled, why not answer my question..
You showed some disagreement with him posting this information. Why shouldnt he post it?
-
hey man, it's a free BBS, you post whatever you want. I wonder what's Ra 's ultimate goal. It must not be information, as it's as valuable for every one's knowledge as a kid being run over in Thailand by a pushpush. The guy is not even French:) why is it that important for him that he took the time to post it in the forum?

Which is precisely why we all post stuff in here. You are now figuring this out?

Well Frenchy, it may seem like a jab at France, but it's meant as a jab at those Americans who think we need French approval before we ever make a move against Muslims. France has it's own internal problems with Muslims, it has no stomach for making any tough decisions regarding Muslims outside of France. This type of crime is apparently not rare in France these days, this one is just worse than most because there was an infant involved.
Some Jewish families have been in France for centuries, even fought in wars for France, but recent Muslim immigrants have no fear of attacking them or vandalising their property. That lack of fear says a lot, and those Americans who think US foreign policy should depend on French support should be aware of it.

Because not one of the three O'Club thread pre-reqs were met:
1.) Bush is Hitler
2.) Death to America
3.) Boobies rule
I can understand why he's upset.

Amen. I can't imagine standing by and letting something like that happen. And speaking for everyone I know, all who grew up right here, they would agree.
The problem with the south is the influx of northerners( damn yankees:)) that don't care about the person next to them. I have to say that Southern Hospitality has been tarnished by the twenty years(and more) influx of Northeners that can't handle the cold weather where they grew up.
I hate the 102* days with 85% humidity, making it feel like 125, but I sure as hell aint going to move up to the land of the great white. If ya get old and can't stand the cold, then move south and adopt the general kindness to everyone ya meet.
If ya gotta have an attitude, stay yer bellybutton up north and be an bellybutton up there. While we're more than happy to have ya, we're better off without ya if ya can't integrate to the general politeness that we have for one another.

Hey, if that had happened in the USA, they would have dealt with it the american way: get a camcorder, sell the tape, get rich!
And if you feel you need some extra bucks, just approach the criminals shouting "hey don't do that!" and you'll get invited to several talk shows.
The french just don't realize the endless possibilities!

It's pretty cool that anyone can become rich in America.

My thoughts exactly!

I really must live in a sheltered world. The willingness to help a person in need hasn't been purged from myself. And I live next to one of the only Navy nuclear training facilities in the US. Most of those guys, however lacking in common sense they are, I have seen them go way the hell outta their way to help the local peeps.
Most of these guys are 19 and from the middle states.
They give me hope for the general people of the US.
There is truth to the old axiom, "Southern Hospitality", and these guys sem to believe in it, no matter where they are from.
But........................ imitation is no substitute.
Welcome to the land of the South, and don't forget where you are when you start runnin that yankee mouth.

Just plain sick.
"PARIS, France (AP) -- Just days after claiming to be the victim of an attack that stunned France, a young mother confessed to making up the story, authorities said Tuesday."
-
I guess she had made several of these false claims before.
But, on the bright side.... it gave some people on this BB another oppurtunity to argue amongst each other again. There's good in everything, just need to know how to look at it.
:D

The problem is that each individual in the crowd is thinking "right now it's 3 armed men vs that pregant woman. If I step in, and no one else does, it's three armed men vs. myself and that pregnant woman." Absent some leadership from someone in the crowd, or an ingrown ethic of group values that seems to have gone away in recent decades, each individual will do that particular math, and hope someone else steps in.
If, OTOH, these three guys with knives are trying to take over an airliner and crash it into the White House, each of the airline passengers will know the choice is "kill, or die", and proceed to bash these losers faces in with laptop computers or anything else with the necessary mass.
My own theory is that this all began when people started squatting in front of their television sets [and now, computers] for hours, instead of sitting on front porch or front steps and passing the time with their neighbors. Just my two cents.

If it happened here then I am sure that someone would have pointed out that bringing knives to a gunfight was probly one more dumb move in a series of dumb moves on their part.

Or perhaps the reason no one did anything was because the attackers just didn't exist?

The surprising thing is that "North Africans decent" are usually at the receiving end of the Skinhead antiracial groups.

Hehe yep - went off and read the news, and posted back without looking. Doing better than Mipoikel, though - he's only just found the google-bombed "WMD not found" error message.
PS Happy Bastille day to all the grenouilles on the board.
