Took me awhile to get these up...fabulous job by the staff, volunteers, and contributions to add to an already excellent museum. My pictures do the lighting effect no justice, you have to see this in person (Picks of kids were taken during the Apollo 11 workshop)

Hey Rip,
Air Warrior had its last con in Seattle and Yoj, one of the guys hosting got us a tour of the place. Some Boeing employees were restoring a B29. Are you familar with that project, if so hows it working out?

They've moved it off Boeing field and into a hangar for final restoration phase. (I noticed they've also moved the B-47 that sat out front too)
They've still got alot of work to do on her and if you know of anyone in the area willing to help out, you can take parts home and work on them in your spare time. Usually a drill press and metal saw are helpful.
$$ is always needed too, as this is strictly all-volunteer and donations for restoration (Boeing contributes some $$ as well as hangar, but that doesn't cover all costs) Stoney might have some more updated information too. I posted some interior pics of the B-29 you speak of a few months back.

you would think with a purty museum like that, and lots of priceless aircraft they could afford some new lightbulbs...

LOL furby. :) Like I said in my original post, the pics do the lighting no justice, you'll just have to come in person to see it. If you do, ring me up, I'm a member and can get you in no charge.

We have same in RAF museum Battle of Britain hall, its very dark in there, adds to the atmosphere though, especially with the Defiant, Ju88 and 110 night-fighters!

For donations you can contact Tom Dawson, B-29 Project Manager, at 206-764-5700 directly or go to the Adopt-a-plane webpage at:
http://www.museumofflight.org/visit/contribute/adoptaplane.html
The adopt-a-plane is alittle out of my price range! But, you can make smaller donations by calling Tom Dawson after 9pm PST Mon-Friday.

Thanks for the pics Ripsnort. I've been wanting to see my fav plane in person for so long. I've been following Yellow 10's restoration on another website, and now it's out for display! I'll have to take my first visit to Washington state one of these days. Maybe I can hope for a TDY since we can't afford to go on a trip right now :(.

I was following that one too. At least they got that godawful paintjob that they had at the USAF museum off of it. It looks much better now. I'm hoping skuzzy will aprove this:

Depends on traffic. Sunday morning it takes 30 min. :) Usually about 45 min around 2pm week days.

The P51 is not real, (a model used as a place holder) and the 109 is a composite.
It is a nice addition, but I wish the FW could have been put in there too.

I knew about the P-51, but are you sure about that 109E?
http://www.museumofflight.org/collections/champlindisplay.html?ID=126
In 1972, Douglas Champlin began looking for a restorable Bf 109 for his collection. After several fruitless searches, he acquired a Spanish-built Hispano HA 1112 and reconfigured it as closely as possible to the original. Locating a Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and associated cowling proved impossible, so a DB 605 was substituted.
Modification work was undertaken by Art Williams in Germany. This included not only the engine change, but also redesign of the wingtips and other related items.
The Champlin Collection Bf 109 was manufactured in Germany during 1942 or 1943. It is thought to be one of the original batch of twenty-five aircraft supplied to Spain. All instrumentation is German, and of the identifiable Spanish-manufactured parts, many appear to be identical to the original German versions.

Where do you live Rip? About the same distance myself.
Went there on opening day with my son.
Wife got me into an FM2 that was part of CAF. They brought in an Avenger and a Wildcat to commemorate the opening of the new wing.
Made my day to sit in her.
Gotta get the shots on the web, gotta find out where those pics actually went.

I live up next to Lake Tapps (Across the street from it). Techically "Sumner" but we're closer to Bonney Lake than Sumner. We're neighbors!
Looks like a great time you had, wish I could have made that day, with all the aces floating around it would have been very interesting grand opening!

Thx for the pics Ripsnort :)

Anytime Nilsen. One of these days I'll get a better camera. :)

ya Rip.. nice pics and a great looking family!
