Lockups seem to be a product of overclocking (whether overclocking of video or CPU). My 5900 is overclocked by default and everytime I load a different driver I have to be sure to reset the clock speed or I will see a system lockup.
CTD's, however, do not appear to be related. I witnessed a 'general area' CTD on about five guys (that many reported it anyway) right after we killed a group of Lanc's that had just dropped on A25 town. No one was running film.
After that I started running film on every sortie, but so far I haven't seen a repeat of that incident.
