hi, we were discussing on sqd forum about the current AH field layouts and we believe they are based on a much later layout than wwii fields. Here is a copy/paste of what nexx posted (hope he doesnt mind ;))

They're definitely the expansion airfields to cater for jets. No WW2 airfield had that many taxiways and hard standing (ASP/Pans).
Usual WW2 layouts are below:
Debden Airfield (2 runway)

Sculthorpe Airfield (3 runway) Good picture displaying 'specticle dispersals' for bombers

Similar 3 runway layouts
Newton airfield (think University Air Squadron or Cadets still use airfield)

North Luffenham airfield - Canadian 1st Fighter Wing consisting of 410 Sqn, 439 Sqn and 441 Sqn were base here with Sabres in the 1950s. '3' strange dispersals on bottom right were Thor ICBM sites.

RAF Barkston Heath airfield (still used Elementary Flight Training)

I don't mind the airfields in AH2, just look a bit post war that's all.

what we need is Metatron to post how he really likes the current AH field layouts... then the witch hunt will turn this into a 300 post topic about how wrong he is and how they must be changed.

The point I'd like to add (hopefully without getting slated and this turned into a hatred thread about the hornets)
is that the fields in AH have trees and hills at the end of the runway, it's not very practical, and would runways really be built in ditches?
