These findings were arrived at by objective analysis by the United Nations Development Programme, as opposed to kneejerk rhetoric on the Aces High BBS.
I am not surprised by this article. Norway may have high levels of taxation, but services such as education and health tend to be "free at the point of sale". I've yet to hear of a Norwegian having to cancel his AH account because of mounting medical bills. And unlike countries such as the UK and US, Norway has no significant nonproductive underclass draining the welfare system. Their educational standards are high, with 98% of children in school. Certainly, our Norwegian friends on this board seem to be extremely well educated. Their standard of English with regard to grammar, spelling and vocabulary is truly remarkable. Of course, one needs to be sufficiently well educated oneself in order to appreciate this. :D

Norway is the leading country for life expectancy, income and educational attainment, says the United Nations Development Programme.
It is followed by Sweden, Australia, Canada and Holland. The United States, the world's largest economy, comes eighth.
Sierra Leone was the poorest out of 177 nations evaluated, but the list did not include Somalia, generally considered the poorest country in the world.
The four other lowest on the development index are Burundi, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.
Life expectancy for Norwegians is 78.9. The nation has 98 per cent of its children in school and the highest income in the world at £19,460 per head of population.
In Britain, which comes 12th, a child growing up now may expect to live to 78, all children are in school and the per capita income is £14,135. In America, life expectancy is 77.

Thats because we can get increadable drunk on boat otw there and shop without thinking of it when we arrive in Newcastle :D

If only we could send our natives to Norway..we would be tops again. And they would drop out of the top 10.
The UN is really disapointed with how we treat Native Canadians.

sooo... the UN wants me to give up mexican women and mexican food and sunshine and pay double in taxes and give up concealled carry and pay 5 or 6 bucks a gallon for gas so that I can live 1.8 years longer and know that our average workers make less (before taxes) than theres do (before taxes)?
might as well vote for kerrie and live in an ice box.

Yes...in the winter. In the summer its warm.. strange isnt it :D
The climate in southern norway is alot like in the New York region im told. 68 to 86 degrees in summertime, and -13 to 32 in the winter

Ya know, when ya got a good thing going it's sometimes best not to advertise. Otherwise everyone flocks to get in on the good thing and the overcrowding spoils it. BTW, Texas sucks. ;)

Agree Iron. We have or fair share of people knocking on the door to get in. It has gotten abit better since we joined borders with the EU tho. We now have access to their police and customs network so we dont need to process alot of people that has had been kicked out of one of the other EU countries. A country with 4 million + population can only accept a sertain amount of refugees every year since we are determinded to give all those that do get in a fair chanse to integrate themselves into the community adn aget jobs, education and healthcare. If we didnt bother wiht integrating them we could help alot more.....in the short run :)
