Title: In my robe, outside at 7:00am'ish, with a broom
Post by: Ripsnort on July 16, 2004, 09:27:05 AM
I hear all this barking and a lady screaming...I jump up from the chair and look outside, two Russian wolf hounds attacking her golden lab, tag team style, she's trying to yell at the dogs to separate them but of no use.  I grabbed a broom (nearest thing to the door) and ran out there whapping at these dogs with the broom handle but these dogs keep coming back...one is eyeing me in my robe! (Hey, I'm not your type, big boy...)

Finally the owner comes out (the dogs escaped through the fence) and gets the dogs.  Dumbchit.  I should have told him next time those thugs get out and attack another dog walking with its owner down the street I'm gonna spend .45 cents on each of them.

Freaking adrenline rush and I ain't even had my tea yet.

Baseball bats work better.

Isn't it illegal to discharge a firearm within city limits in your town?

You had the robe.......

you forgot your wizards hat..:)

I had a dog come at me and my Choc Lab years ago.  I grabed that dog by the neck and pined it down.
When the owner came running she was duly warned of the pennding death of her dog if it happend a gain.. Never saw her out without a leash agin.

Good ! But more importantly..... how's the lab?

Unincorporated Pierce county. We can fire guns.  However, that's impossible with the proximity of persons involved, and houses nearby.  I'd never do it.

Baseball bat would have been nice!  Broom was the closest thing though at the heat of the moment (nice steel handle)

You ever see a bald 44 year old guy in a robe carrying a broom, screaming and hollaring at the top of his lungs at 7am before?  :p Didn't phase those phucking dogs..

She finally cowered and stood her ground, even though one would try to scream in from the rear and get a nip.  The owner walked her home, but I'm afraid Mariha(The gold lab) is shell shocked from this experience.  She appeared okay.  The owner just jawed the owner of the wolf hounds for a couple minutes.

hey, I ain't no hero, just doing whats instinctive for most of us.  Owners like this guy just piss me off to no end. he'd better fix that hole in his fence before a kid gets attacked.  This is the 2nd time they've gotten out.

When I first saw "Black on Gold" I thought my black lab had gotten out!  Then I realized that he would have licked the other dogs butt instead of fight...

First of all ... good job Rippy.

Now, how does this differ (other than species) from the thread I started on Checksix about breaking up a fight? I seem to recall some derision and animosity from you about that one. Do you remember?

Russian wolfhounds is something I never heard of. Looking like German Shepard but bigger - it can be what is called here an "Eastern-European Shepard". $2000 a piece must include shipment from Eastern Europe, food and all stuff for 6 months :) And training not to attack the neighbouring unaquainted dogs ;)

Rip, I hope next time you'll use the broom on the owner of that wolfhounds.

Girl dies after dog mauling; animal destroyed after deadly attack

A toddler died Thursday afternoon from wounds she sustained when a dog mauled her at the home of family friends.

Patricia J. "Morgan" Anderson, 2, died at South Georgia Medical Center, said Sgt. Terry Arnold, chief investigator with the Cook County Sheriff's Department deputy.

She had been transferred from Adel Memorial Hospital following the dog attack, which occurred at about 10 a.m.

"(Coroner) Ron Lipsey called us (between 1-2 p.m.) and said he had gotten word that the child had died," Arnold said.

Anderson and her mother were living with friends in the Chaserville area in north Cook County. The friends had a dog, which deputies described as a bulldog mix, tied behind the residence.

Anderson stepped outside the back door of the house and came in contact with the dog.

Investigator Brent Exum said an Hispanic worker nearby, hearing the child's screams, rushed to assist her. The worker wasn't mauled, but the dog bit the homeowner.

"The dog was taken by animal control from the City of Adel," Exum said. "The dog was euthanized following the proper procedures."

Health officials also conducted rabies tests on the dog.

The investigators said no charges have been filed.

The case remains under investigation.

Sorry, I didn't use a "backward-translation" method as usual :(

This is a "Russian borzoi". Doesn't look even close to German Shepard.

My Father had a pair of borzoi's before the War. He says they are the dumbest dogs he have ever known. They can't be kept in a small yard. All they can do is RUN like hell, and frame their prey, usually hares, seldomly wolves (at least in our times).

Hm. Borzoi must mean a "wolfhound", but I never thought about it. "Borz" is a "wolf" in a Chechen language. Wolf is their national symbol...

A Labrador can bite them in two one by one. Seriously. They are so thin (if in good shape) that a Lab should be able to simply close his jaws around their waists.

Just today:

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A local doctor was sentenced Monday for failing to keep his two rottweilers penned, NewsChannel 4's Nancy Burton reported. The dogs attacked a woman, who later died at a local hospital.

Matthew Crawley was indicted in October on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, one count of reckless homicide and one count of assault. He was sentenced Monday to six months in jail.

Homicide detectives said that Crawley's dogs got loose in February 2003 and mauled Vivian Anthony, who later died after being on life support for 53 days.

Crawley's dogs were linked to the attack through DNA evidence.

Anthony, 54, was walking toward Broad Street when the dogs mauled her, NewsChannel 4 reported.

Doctors said her heart, lungs and kidneys failed, so the family decided to take the mother of 3 and grandmother of 17 off life support, NewsChannel 4 reported.
