Had a blast tonight in zigrats Medditerannean League practice scenario. Heres a little AAR for anyone who wants to read it..
After reading the assignment email from Camo early this evening I was really looking forward to some scenario fun tonight. I read the map a few times (great job by the way camo). I showed up in the arena 20 mins early rounding my flock to A16, getting them setup, sending invites, etc. We went OTR, idling, and sat there while ziggy was getting things squared away. I had 3 of my assassins squaddies there, a couple of newer fellas, and an old vet from WB's who joined my flight, all in all we had about 8 or 9 fellas.
We finally rolled from a17 on the med map (northwestern part of sicily). We were to keep an eye out for heavies, namely B26's and pretty much protect the whole island. We grabbed alt north then circled back to the east then south over the island, the whole time keeping my eyes peeled back to the west to see if the heavies were up yet. Saw a large blob in the 1,8 sector and thought surely those were the heavies, we vectored towards the area with 27,000 ft under our belts.
We see dots at a slightly higher altitude at our 2 oclock, I call for the boys to drop tanks and WEP in, after all we had no idea what we were running into. Turns out we had stumbled into the escorts. Spit9's at over 25k is more than a handful for heavy 190's. I tell the guys to WEP thru and we would turn slightly south, as I figured the buffs were the large blob to the south, about the 14,5 sector on the med map.
Unfortunately for us, the spits were gaining, finally to the point where we had to turn and fight. After a couple minutes worth of furball, we had lost too damn many good luftwaffe pilots to the spit9s. We ended up maybe 2,000 ft off the mediterranean, with 4-5 of our guys left, and one spitfire hightailing it back to Tunisia.
The spitfire escort, though ending up badly mauled, had done its job, kept my flight of FW190A5's occupied and off the heavies.
We decided to WEP back to sicily and try to refuel then reup. As we were decending into A16 our first guy landing discovers the hard way that A16 cant be landed, so we start to WEP to A17 to the northeast as I see a small flight of two P47's coming in with energy and kill one our remaining 190's (sorry bud), down to 3 now.
With some luck and the help of the terrain my wingman and I dispose of the 2 P47's. Unfortunatley, it was also at the cost of my wingman. Down to 2 FW190's now. Desperately trying to get to A17, I look back and see 4 typhoons diving in for the kill. after avoiding at least 7 or so bounces the only other 190 loses his engine and is forced to ditch. He is bounced while ditching and dies.
So there I am, by myself, on the deck, no wingmen left. trying to run to A17 with 3 typhoons trying to send me to my grave. I fly past my HQ, and low and behold, my own ack shoots at me and kills my engine. I try to ditch but the typhies will have none of that. They lower the boom on me, and I am dead.
So far from the father land. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I bagged 3 allied planes, 1 spitfire and 2 P47's. Next time I'll do better men, and not get us into such a bad situation. Live and Learn (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
This was just like a warbirds scenario ('cept for blob dar which i hope we can kill in scenarios in the future) as far as immersion, white knuckles, the whole bit. I hope to see more of you guys at the next one...

Salute Udie! The 'heavies' attacking 16 consisted of 2 b26's.. the 319th BG {AKmosby and myself) made it into 16 thanks to kbman and the Spits of 88 Squadron escorting.. you guys never saw us (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Sadly; the ack was effective rather high.. 10k; but we still managed to blow the place a new brown eye. Lucky the goons wern't enabled or we'd be drinkin yer beer. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

JG 53 lauched 7 Bf109 G6 fighters for operations south of Sicily in the area
of Malta. Load out was 75% fuel, External Tank. and single 20mm nose
gun(turns out to be bad choice)
Pilots involved and their claims and disposition.
Group 1
Pongo CO 0 kills Swimming. (b17s)
Ygsmilo 2 kills 1 assist. RTB
Zigrat 0 kills 2 assists RTB
Group 2
Cobra 2 kills 2 assists RTB
BigJoe 3 kills RTB
Sox 4 kills 3 assist KIA (p38s)
Swager 0 kills Swimming (b17s)
For the loss of 3 airframes and one pilot JG53 accounted for 4 b17s
destroyed and 2 heavily damaged. 4 P38 destroyed 3 spitfires Destroyed.
Jg53s Baptism of fire over Sicily was an outstanding success.
I never realised that the 190 A8 unit that shared the defence of sicily with
us was not present till we were over malta. The JU88s targeting malta were
whiped out by the defending spitfires ne of malta. We only loaded single
20mm on our Gustavs and had a large amount of problems with the 6 b17s we
intercepted as a result.
The pilots of Jg 53 performed far above the call of duty on this day.
My plan of battle (assuming the support of the A8 unit) was to form a picket
line se of 18 all the way to malta. Myself Zigrat and ygsmilo would form
that line and fly back and forth till contact. (thought no radar)
Cobra would lead the remaining 4 pilots to malta to attempt to cap it.
The malta spitfire pilots headed east to gain alt and Cobra led his unit to
keep position on them. Milo detected and intercepted a lone spitfire headed
to Sicily. Myself and Zigrat over flew Malta and then detected a large
formation of B17s(6) se of malta and called the rest of the squad to join
for attack. Milo had to finish his spit then he joined us followed closely
by the rest of the squad closing at alt from the north.
Our attack in our lightly armed 109s went as well as could be expected. We
got 2 and damaged several in our mass attack and I went down with a verticle
stab gone and swager had to bail as well.
Both of us were in the water for the remainder.
A running battle developed with the remaining members and the 4 surviving
b17s. 2 more were killed. Zigrat got engine damage and had to RTb. Out of
ammo the squad landed at A19 to rearm and refuel. The last spitfire was
killed chasing Cobra into the Ack. In the LW we honor such kills.... (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). Re
armed the squad took off to chase the wounded bombers only to be atacked by
4 fresh p38s. In the ensuining running battle the squad destroyed all of the
attacking planes but Sox impacted the ground(i think, was hard to tell on
rw...) The last victory of the great 38 pilot Milo, who was killed shortly
afterwards.
Some other spits were killed in there somewhere...
Other than Swager and myself the squad did extremely well. Swager is going
to the eastern front. I am going to a rest home for war weary heros in Vienna. Cobra
took over the squad during my bath and of course the credit for the success
of the squad goes to him.
Operational status for next frame is.
7 Bf 109G6 (5 survivors-1 unused- 1 replacement)
7 Pilots (6 survivors - 1 replacement) air sea rescue!
The Eastern med will be empty of enemy for the next frame. Unfortunatly it
will be empty of our bombers as well.
Comendations

Here's my AAR as sent to Sunchasr...
After the transport broke down in Al-Harreen, I arrived late at my new billet in
Tripoli.
Assigned to the 346th I arrived to find I'd missed the preflights, and was rushed to
my shiny new B-17G, without the benefit of meeting my squadmates. Loaded
already, the Mechanic had her idling for me. "bring her home" was all he said as I
climbed aboard.
Never heard a call to roll, but followed the guy in front of me as he moved, as we
launched in a rather ragged line.
Climbing out to the NE, we were divided into two flights. Sunchasr was lead,
Sling322 was #2, I was #3
Natt, and Wilfred comprised the second flight. I believe Natt was flight lead for
them. Don't know if a third ever showed up for them.
Climb out was uneventful.
Enemy planes (109's) were contacted N of Malta, coming in on my 9 oc. More
were spotted inb on our 12 oc.
Saw the 1st pass of a pair of 109's as they went by me and chewed on the rear
planes. No hits registered on either plane as they passed me at distance of approx
d1.5 Believe that pair were the ones that downed Natt .
at this point it seemed 109's were everywhere I looked, for the most part they were
slightly out of range, with the occasional nearby pass at another plane. Saw the
wingtip come off of Wilfreds plane, with the resultant loss of control, briefly
appeared he had regained control when my attention was drawn elsewhere.
Put a few pings on a 109 that I believe got Sling322's plane.
took a few pings also but no major damage at this time. saw hits on 1 of the 109's,
he fell away smoking but was under control.
Sunchasr and I were only two left. He had taken some damage and had lost 2
engines, was blowing fuel and oil from both. I slowed to maintain what little bit of
cover for him as I could.
Sling at this point joined my aircraft as a gunner, and I think he may have gotten an
assist on a 109, that put a few holes in me. Only damage was some fuel loss from
aux tanks.
As we neared the target, finally we saw some inb friendly escorts. (Thankfully)
they managed to keep us clear as we made our runs on A19
6 1000's lbers dropped with 4 confirmed hits. 1 AAA, 1 ammo bunker, 1 fuel
bunker, and 1 object (???) destroyed.
There was some confusion on my part as to exit direction and I fell away from
Sunchasr a bit, but managed to close up as we ran S for Malta.
Escort maintained good cover for the return.
Followed Leader until over Malta, where he and his gunner bailed sucessfully since
the pilot was wounded and blacking out with suprising rapidity.
Two chutes observed.
Landed with no problems at Malta.

"Escort maintained good cover for the return"
That was Newwguy and myself Greybeard. It was a bit heart wrenching, to say the least, listening to the radio as your group was being mauled by the heartless Hun.
We had to take off took off seven grids to the west of you and with your head start we never had a chance to assist on your egress. As it was we really only made it to you shortly after you "pickled" your presents for the target below.
Newwguy and myself felt very good that we were able to brush that last lingering 109 off you and Suncahser even though I never had to fire a shot and Newwguy spent some warning ammo helping the 109 pilot think twice about coming back. But as is the case of escort that is just the way it goes. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) YOUR HIDE is our priority. Not getting kills.
On the egress I nearly sh&t my pants when to the west four higher dots appeared and I figured we were in for a scrap. Ceasing my zigzag over your formation I slammed my throttle to the stops and headed towards them to at least tie them up. Newwguy charged his stead likewie for the coming battle and we hoped we could cover your escape....
When suddenly to our huge relief the aircraft proved to be friendly - it was Minotaur and crew (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I could have used a pair of Depends for the ride home to say the least.
I haven't been in a scenario since early last spring, and COD have I missed them! And escort is the way to go! I'd like to thank Rob53, another 38 pilot, who stuck with it after being dumped and then not being able to form up to escort as he had to leave for work. <S> thank you Rob for your effort and for at least trying!

Gun Emplacement x1
Ammo Bunker x1
A/C Destroyed in combat:
Pollock 2 109s destroyed
Svalan 1 109 destroyed
Sling322 1 assist, 1 109 damaged (believed to be Zigrat)
Sling322 (gunning for SCGreyB) 1 109 destroyed
Crew RTB
SCGreyB - RTB`d A12 with fuel leak left wing, poss. other damage.

Svalan - RTB`d Sunchser gunner.
Crew MIA
Wilfrid - Successful bail - POW
Natt - Unknown
Pollock - Successful bail - POW
NOTE Some confusion may arrise as some pilot(s) became gunners when they were shot down, and managed to RTB that way.
2 A/C reached target and bombed, 3 shot down enroute.
Report:
B17 flight departed A12 and flew north to A19. An altitude of approx 23-24k was reached when the formation was bounced by ME109s, flying from the 12 and 9 O`clock positions (N and W). In the many passes that ensued, the Fortresses gave a good account of themselves (see scores), but at a price - 3 were shot down just within sight of landfall. 2 B17s bombed the target, 1 crew bailing out over allied territory (A12), 1 landing at A12 field itself.
Commendations:
Sunchser for successfully bombing the target and returning himself and crew to friendly soil with a badly damaged bomber and Pilot Wounds. These wounds were suffered over the target itself.
SCGreyB for successfully bombing the target and landing his damaged bomber at a friendly base.
Notes, Recommendations.
1.)B17 Squadron departed base too soon, fighter escorts only caught up on the return leg. Attack was unco-ordinated in this respect.
2.)Fighter escorts planned to rendevous with B17 squadron near the target; It is this officers opinion they should have sought to locate the B17 squadron and stay inside visual range much earlier, enroute to the target.
3.)Escorting fighter squadron (CO was Westy) did sterling work when it DID meet up with B17 squadron, and ensured that the 2 surviving crews RTB`d; They are to be congratulated.

Yes, it was very fun. My P-38 flight got smoked. They put "Death by Stupidity" on our un-marked graves.
The funniest thing did happen......
We were 5 P-38's flying in close formation. Filled with pride at our shiny A/C. We were maintaining a d400 spread at 20k. Suddenly our brave leader Central abruptly falls back and loses altitude rapidlying.
In the radio buffer we see:
What the heck?
Seems that with his 2 arms and his 2 legs Central was un-able to defend his keyboard from all of the six kids that were at his house. One got through on a sneak attack and "Ejected" him from the flight. Our first casualty! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
It did notice that the LW planes (109's) do enjoy significant advantage with the d3.0 icon range. They blend in very well to the groundscape, almost impossible to see.

This is my first AAR so bear with me:
JG 53 left 18 and my orders per my CO (Pongo) were to BARCAP between A18 and V50.
Climbing east at 22k Cobra flight reported a lone con to the south, I turned to check it out and it turned out to be a lone spit. I climbed above the spit as Cobra flight arrived and engaged the spit. Pongo then instructed me to continue south to look for buffs. Made contact with the bombers about the same time that 4 other members of the Squad did. Commenced a fairly coordinated attack from 9 oclock hi as the others did and opened up on Natt at 350 and scored good hits on left wing and center area. Dove out and climbed back to make another attack, saw that the B17 I had hit was on its way down.
Second attack similar to the first, after gaining position above and abeam the bombers made a run and hit a bomber seperating it from the formation, stalked the B17 and finished it off with a 2 oclock hi attack.
Needing to RTB for fuel and ammo headed for A19 as were Sox and Cobra. Noticed a Spit trailing me so headed for the deck. Thinking I had lost the spit I throttled back as I got vis on Sox and Cobra, big mistake the next think I know is hearing the sound of .303s, looking back the lone spit is d400 back shooting. Wep on, nose down to the deck running for the ack of 19. I did manage to gain some seperation and the spit was destroyed be the ack.
After rearming lifed of with Sox,Cobra and Big Joe who had just landed. Thats when Minos bunch of P38s came in high so we decided to run low to 18, the P38s found us and came down to hunt. I was tail end Charlie and when the 38s were 2.5 back I made the decision to reverse into them after informing the others and a wild furball ensued. Cant remember much other than looping over the top after one 38 but missing the shot, someone screaming break, and then watching a 38 wax Cobra. I followed him in his zoom and got good hits on him but no kill. Big Joe got him and then the remaining 38s bugged out.
Landed at 18 with Big Joe and kissed the ground upon getting out of the cockpit.
2 B-17s downed and 1 assist on 38s.
Great stuff, very immersive. You really try to stay alive and think about what you are doing.

Tallying the kills here is as hard as real life!
Only 7 109s were present in Sicly. 4 of them returned to base. One was lost to a 38. There were only 2 109 kills by buffs not the 4 you record
I was sure there were 6 buffs!
So 5 B17s were intercepted near malta. Only one landed. That is 4 buff kills.

Here is the story of the brave defenders of Malta consisting of only 4 spitIXs. (We were unable to get anymore to join us (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) )
After taking off with max internal fuel, rockets, and a DT; we proceded to the South East to gain altitude. Once reaching 15k the flight turned N and proceded along the border between two sectors to hide our true strength. Our CO assumed correctly that the JU88s based in the north of Sicily would be lagging their escorts. At an altitude of 26k ft we spotted a vic of 4 planes, large ones. 2 spits at a time dove into the bomber formation, myself scoring the first kill of the scenario (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). MADMARK was able to down 2 bombers and wolf37/griz badly mauled the last (he could not have made it to his objective). Unfortunately this fight left us at 10k and of course here came a flight of at least 6 109s with altitude advantage. Griz and MADMARK were jumped by overwhelming numbers and quickly sent down into the sea. I turned into the trailing 109 and looped with him, landing a 50 cal hit. The 109, sensing danger, dove for the sea and foolishly I followed. The 109 began scissoring and I was lucky enough to land a single cannon round on the 109 at a range of 370 yds. Unfortunately for me Wolf37 was downed about this time in a fight with 2 109s. That left me alone against 3 109s in my area. Soon I found myself in a turning battle (playing to the strengths of the spit) with a pair of 109s. One went for a front quarter shot and landed a few MG pings on me. The battle continued with me constantly scissoring and turning into the attacks of the 109s. I was able to land a single 50 cal ping on one of the 109s, but their E superiority began to tell. Soon one of the 109s made a high front quarter pass and I was unable to pull my nose up to avoid it. A cannon shell took off my left wing and flames began to fill the cockpit. I bailed out and landed on Sicily. (<S> Sox and wingmen, excellent fight.)
Current status of the 4 members of 234 RAF squadron, POWs. Our flight did manage to destroy the entire JU88 flight and damage a few of the attacking 109s. Unfortunately all the spits were lost. Wolf37 decided that after our escape back to Malta beer and landing fees will be doubled in an effort to purchase new spitfires. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Well,
Alot of firsts for me here. First time I have ever COd a squad and the first time I have flown in a scenario and the first time I had flown with a couple of the guys in my squad.. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) That said, it was a total blast and despite the utter confusion in the beginning and having recieved no prior instructions or plans other than our starting field and that we were a Spitfire squad I think we all aquitted ourselves rather nicely. I havent received my reports from my squaddies yet so I recap from memory.
We ended up with 5 pilots after Westy was called away to CO Cit's squad. Myself, Logan, SwolveFT(a brand new addition from FC FTs), Regurge and Thorin( a last minute walk on). I would like to thank them all for their spirit and cooperation in helping me manage the situation, it was a total group effort under my less than stellar leadership.
We assembled at A7 Bizerta and took off after getting the go ahead from Zigrat with 100% fuel and DTs(except their fearless leader who somehow forgot his DT (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ) We still had no plan so we circled the field grabbing and gathered from radio transmissions that Hangtime and his 26s were OTW to hit A16. So we picked up a NE heading and figured we'd intercept them somewhere close to their target. We were at 20k at that point and grabbed to 25k, leveled and headed due E towards Trapani. DAR showed a single contact off our 9:00 SE of Cagliari which we ignored continued towards our intercept. As we approached the 12,9 sector Thorin reports a large red blob on DAR at 1:00. We dropped tanks(except me) and pulled towards our fate. Suddenly, we see 8 dots appear at 27k above us and alarm goes up, "Bogies!! 12:00 high!!!". Seconds later we get Icons as we pulled up to meet them.Yikes!! 190s!! I give the order to engage at will and the melee was on. We passed through the pack and they descended slightly in a effort to get speed. I see a 190 that was a bit away from the pack and moved into position on him. At this point, the fog of war goes into full effect so the details are a little fuzzy. I saddled up on my target as he extended away and then pulled up to rev towards his friends. I start pinging with the 50s and he jinks a few times and then I get a good tight shot and opened with 20mm. Off with his wing and down he goes, 1st kill (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I reved hi and back to the rest of the pack and tell the guys to keep alt if possible as it seems we actually had the upper hand somehow. 6 calls start flying and a hi alt furball is in full swing.
I picked up another 190 closing on a mate and Logan calls out that a 205 has joined the fray. I never saw him and kept on the 190 as Regurge splitSed away I opened up on him and he pulls up and then rolls down and away. I followed and he scissored a couple times and then I get a good crossing shot and down he goes, 2nd kill. Pull back up and try to assess the situation. Seems we are still doing ok.Another 190 makes a front quarter pass at me and I rolled to avoid and see Thorin(I think) take out someone as I get a few MG pings in me. I see one mate is in the silk and I rev to the 190 as he pulls onto Logans 6. I call 6 and then pinged him with MG spray and he goes into a steep vert scissors and I followed him down. I used up my MGs in missed crossing shots and he must have thought I was out. He leveled and I got what I thought was the killshot at D250 with 20mm on his wing. I pulled back up waiting to see the kill message and was dismayed to see that all my squaddies are floating towards the sea (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) It turned out I only got his ron and I extend away a start looking for home port at 7k alt. I commend my mates on a battle well fought run for my life...feeling rather guilty at being the last one in the air. Frenchy then calls on the radio and asks if I need help and I say "4 on my long 6, thx, RTBing" He says "OTW" and I beat a hasty retreat towards Bizerta as my squaddies are making jokes about sharks as they swam. I have 18% fuel and 25 cannon left and apologize to my mates for their sad state and we are chatting about what happened I fly over the installation at Tunis at 7k and am surprised to take a few ack pings having forgotten it wasn't ours (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) I dive and roll out of ack range as Frenchy's 47s are finishing their cleanup and I get the assist message on my approach to Bizerta with 5% fuel left.
WOW!! I cant beleive I am landing with 2 kills and a piece. I thank Frenchy and apologize to Hang for never having seen him and my squaddies again for my being the only RTB.
All in all, an exhilerating fight and a great time had by everyone. I look forward to a better showing next frame and a chance to improve my CO skills with a great bunch of guys.
I will be reforming the squad as the 43rd Squadron RAF China British because Nexx was kind enough to send me their noseart and researched them for me. They actually flew Spits in the Med after 1943 whereas the 88th didnt and was defaulted to me by Zigrat after I didnt choose a name myself.
A big salute to Zigrat for organizing this and to all who participated. Big,big fun!!

Once again, I screwed up and got the 346th BS B17s in trouble.
Natt is missing in action and we hope to hear from him soon
Westy, thank you and Newguy for saving the remaining B17s over the target and on withdrawal to Malta.
The reports submitted so far by 346th pilots are accurate to my knowledge.
I spent most of the ingress trying to keep track of the message buffer and most of the egress regaining control after blackouts.
We took off with 5 B17Gs and 1 landed damaged at Malta.
Svalan, who was gunning with me from takeoff, and I bailed over the field at Malta due to massive damage to B17 and pilot of same.
We landed about 40 yards from the end of one of the runways and both saw SCGreyBeard land as Svalan carried me to the waiting jeep and I was off to the dispensary for lots of bandaids.
I was careless with our BOMBERS
{please, I know you guys are used to referring to them as "buffs" but during historical stuff try to call them what they were please, please?}and with help from our new XO Wilfrid and the addition of SCGreyBeard to our already formidable ranks we will do better next time.
I would appreciate contact with the dedicated escort Squads and my email is enthor@aol.com
I also am new to scenarios and have much to learn but last night was worth the 30 bucks!

AAR I./KG 77
Only 2 registered memembers of I./KG 77 were present however Happmsk, Amck and DrMaybe joined our flight.

Happmsk

DrMaybe
We launched south from Belvedre (a20) and headed south for a bit grabbin before turning toward Malta. Radar sector bar showed enemies at 15.6 and 16.6 at this point we were without escort. High cons were spotted to our east we tightened our formation and turned west. R2ch made a call for our escorts who were well south. The cons quickly closed on our position killing Happmsk first then R2ch then Amck. Drmaybe was out of my vis and had fallen well behind our formation. I went into a shallow dive toward a vehicle base and ack cover. Before I could make it a spitfire dived hard from my high 6 racked my left wing with mg's and hispanos. Leaking fuel I rolled hard left and the spit overshot and pulled up to regroup for next pass. I dumped all ord. and dove. The spit dives again knocking out left eng and left gear. At this point I'm sure I'm done but as I ease the stick up I shout out "SHE'LL FLY!!!" ... now where are those d**ned 'scorts? I'm on the deck now when I check 6 and see spit comin in again and above him my 7 I see freindlies but they fly over. WTF? I figure they assume I'm done. Spit now at d 1k my gunners open up and to my excited suprise the spit rips apart and falls into the drink (griz) . Before he does I am badly wounded and blacking out.
I check all damage and decide to run for A18. I'm at 50ft above the sea. I hear over radio (text log) Drmaybe just got his second kill. I assume command of I./KG 77 and debate weather to send Drmaybe onto Malta but decide to order him rtb then he reports both engines out and will attempt to make A19. I then lost contact with him assuming he did not make it. I am almost there if I can only keep my eyes open. Hoorah!! on final alt 15 ft above runway as I blackout and am awakened by gun fire...? WTF freindly fire? Beast shoots me down then exits arena...
I./KG 77
3 Ju 88 shot down outright
1 Ju88 lost presumed dead
1 ju 88 shot down by freindly fire
r2ch 0 kills
amck 0 kills
happmsk 0 kills
Drmaybe 2 kills (WTG!!!)
Wotan 1 kill
...ps I filmed whole flight but haven't viewed it yet I might post some screenshots later
...pss bloom25 griz was killed by me and unless another spit flight joined the fight DrMaybe killed 2 of your flight.... fogs of war? which is understandable look at the number of edits to this reply.

Pongo, sorry if we claimed more kills than we should have. A new system should be in place before the next event. And as you say, exagerated scores are historical (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
After the climb out approaching the southern coast of Italy we spied dots high to our 12 and 9 O`clocks. I personally thought they might be friendlies come to help us out; Westy told us they had launched from A4 but I couln`t find it on the map, so didn`t know just how far they had to travel. Sunchser announced over RW that he thought all the dots were enemies - I thought "No way..." Turns out he was right.
As SCGreyB said, my left wing tip, no.1 engine and sundry other vital parts were hit during the 3 attacks I remember; Pollock was my gunner. It`s an amazing experience to have to sit in that cockpit, staying in close formation and watching the tracer fire go past without being able to dodge, watching other Forts drop away trailing smoke. Luckily Pollocks an excellent gunner...
After the wing was hit, I had to drop out of formation and salvo the bombs as it took full right aileron, right rudder and forward pressure on the stick so keep any semblance of flight - we were stuck in a constant left turn and dive. When Milo`s third attack came in the plane had a 50 degree bank! Still Pollock hammered away from the top turret. Milo set fire to number 2 engine and took out the flaps, and watching the flames streak back over the wing I decided enough was enough and bailed us out, into captivity.

You didn't shoot me down Wotan, I downed Happmsk and then was engaged by 109s. After a long battle Sox took of my wing. (You may have gotten griz. Wolf37 was downed by ack while pursuing a 109. MADMARK was downed by 109s after downing 2 JU 88s.

Wotan,
You are correct...I got greedy and tried to go in for the kill. But got killed instead (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Should have let you go when I saw the black smoke.
Sorry Bloom, I thought I stated after the fight that I had been killed outright...was too low for eject.
For my first scenario type flight...this was a blast! Edge of the seat stuff! <S> to all who participated...and if you didn't....Join UP!! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Muahahhahaaa.. it WAS a blast. Hope we get some more pilots.. the Allied squads are all staffed a little thin!.. we're at 40% strength now.

Ygsmilo;
I was the P-38 who smoked Cobra. Right after that I got an engine knocked out and could no longer fight. I crashed attempting to ditch and was killed. I don't recall getting pinged at that time, but I don't know for sure what actually occured. The adrenalin was really pumping.
It was incredibly difficult to see those low 109's. Virtually impossible without the Icon. With the Icon range at d3.0 you have no time to set-up and very little time to react. The AH color set-up and the very small size really gives the LW A/C a superior advantage when they are in the ground clutter.
A good lesson in humility. I will never do that again. <S>

Great reports guys! <S>
Seems like you had a blast, but I'm sure that we can top this on saturday. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Looks like there were big tactical mishaps on both sides, but atleast the allied B26's reached their target. The Ju88's and B17's got whacked before reaching their targets.
So far I've received reports from 3 axis fighter squadrons. Seems like the other 3 axis fighter squadrons didn't take part in the action at all?! If this is the case, we did really well! Hblair's 190 A-5's and Pongo's G-6's bore the main weight of the fighting, while Dinger's flight of 2 205's were a "bit" outnumbered in their stuggle for survival.
I've been planning on using a modified historical axis points scoring system in this scenario. A few axis pilots have already managed to gather enough points for Iron Crosses, but these will have to be confirmed first.
Axis CO's, when you get the AAR's from your pilots, count together the kills and assists, defining plane type. This way we can count the points together and who knows, somebody might even reach 40 points for a Knights Cross! (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
