Post by: XtrmeJ on July 16, 2004, 09:36:35 PM

Sure hoping I wouldn't see any of these posts. I'm at work and won't find out the effect on MY system until morning. Sorry to hear it XJ. Maybe next patch... :(

warps have nothing to do with the new patch.
Just test it offline, and you will see.....
The htc server had some problems with udps last hours.

The patch is wonderful. No studders, frames a hell of a lot higher. All smooth and better than AH. Justed hosted a 6 hour game with no problems. Good job HTC.

I find it a significant improvement over patch 5. I preloaded the textures and it runs as smooth as silk.

My regards,

Widewing

Mine working good.

Intersting part of fixes -
"Made a change to the effect of obliquity on the armor penetration model. Impact angle has a more
pronounced effect on a projectile's armor piercing capability."

No more bouncy rounds on a M3?

Works smoothly now, but CTDs are still here although not as often, in fact, I get few offline as well.

How much system memory do you have available (hit cntrl-i it will show you)? Trying to access memory that isn't there will send you to the desk top, and the fact that the release notes asks you to manually check the available system memory, suggests the program doesn't.

I assume the program finds textures by hard coded offsets (maybe not, but that would be the most efficient), and if you choose to load textures without enough sys memory, it will hit an address error when you meet certain textures. That could account for sporatic ctd's. Dunno.

I got 1024mb total with about 512mb in use, with 84mb of textures loaded.

Video mem has only about 64mb in use of total 128.

Yah I fixed it, running smooth now. I don't really see any difference in each patch, it's always been running fine accept for this lil charade that accured. Patches don't seem to do much, its always good, I'm just waiting for some new A/C's and GV's. Then I'll be even better!

Thought everything was much better. My frames don't drop when smoke is around now but it drops from 60-72 to 15-20 near a cv. Should a cv cause that much of a decline? It always has cause a decline when near a cv but never went below 30.

Does this make since. Yesterday patch 6 was wonderful. Now I am having studders all the time and I had a really weird problem. My whole screen had a ugly green tint to it? Happening while I was fighting a spit. Went away in about 5 mins. Also had my first CTD since beta 1. How can it go from good one day to that? Dosen't make sense.

There are two new options in the video setup screen of Aces high II 68D (press the "Video" button on the clipboard immediately after the clipboard stops moving).  One option allows all the textures to be loaded to system ram, and the other is for loading all the textures to video ram.

If you have 256MB of video ram and set the maximum texture size to 256 or 512 (maybe), then exit the game and restart, the option for loading to video ram should be available.

If you have 512MB of system ram, or more, you should be able to use the option to load the textures to system ram.

It would not be wise to check both options.

ok skuzzy took your advise along with some from other players while in the game and i loaded 512mb into my system ram, the option for video is only there if you load 128mb. My frame rates didnt really increase or drop looking to the front but looking up im at like 200's to the front ahh well 30's 40's but to my understanding now this patch wasnt intended to increase frame rates its to stop the studdering thing so im gonna now try to find a furball and see if its better now..

p.s. heres my system spec's if you should have anymore insight into how i can tweek my settings to get the most out of my hardware.

emachines t2482
windows xp home edition
amd athlon xp 2400+ 1.99ghz
756mb ram
radeon 9200 128mb ddr

my video card settings in windows are maxed out to performance
and in ah2 my video settings are about 75% more to performance, any more and i have trouble seeing ground strats
