Title: frame limit doesn't work
Post by: Delirium on July 17, 2004, 05:13:09 PM
Selecting a frame limit (45 or 60) doesn't work anymore, its will constantly spike above whatever you set.

Problem is, anytime I get more than 50 or so frames I get slow motion with V-Sync off or Application controlled and if V-Sync is on I get massive negative variance spikes.

I have a 5700 Ultra with the latest drivers.... I sent an e-mail to Skuzzy but hopefully I can get flying before Monday.

Vsync ALWAYS on.  That is unless you LIKE rubber bullets.  If you don't mind your bullets passin' thru the nme, then leave it off.

Variance spikes, that look like a heart monitor, consistant up,down,up,down are a symptom of someting running in the background (per. skuzzy) and I would do the usual spyware checks, and kill everything in the your TSR's that is not needed.

Can't think of a single reason why it would be connected to your vsync.  Anyone?

If I had a constant variance spike I could understand something is running in the background.

However, I ONLY have it when I get more than 50 frames with V-Sync on. With V-Sync off I don't get any variance problems but instead I get slow motion graphics even tho I'm getting 80 or more frames.

I've tried everything I can think of to fix this problem. The only thing I haven't tried is swapping out the video card, its possible I have a defective unit.

Hate to do so again, but I'm going to have to cancel my account if I can't use it.
