Title: 0028:00000013
Post by: Stooge on July 17, 2004, 05:32:40 PM
All,I'm having a problem since the new update. Whenever I'm playing It randomly pops out of AH to a BSOD and gives me the "I'm MS, I run like crap and here's why" message 0028:00000013. I run win 98-se on a p4 3.1 gig machine with 512 megs of ddr 400 ram. Voodoo 5200 128 Meg agp. Lemme know, My patience is running out faster than my beer :(

Stooge out!

Did some reading on BSOD fatal exc. errors 0028:00000013 and have a couple tips.

I read in several place that it could be bad ram.  So it wouldn't hurt to check that, and possible take our your ram, and swap slots.

MOSTLY I saw the error in reg. to Mcafee anti virus, and EZ CD creator.  Not really a good reason why.  Do you use either of these products?  Consider removing the cd creator if you have it, and disabling mcafee on boot up and trying that also.

I would do the usual spyware scans  (AD-Aware, Spybot, SpyKiller) and see if they pick up anything.

I did have enough beer to wait it out.. turns out I had a USB conflict. I also noticed that my cd roms were acting very strange. So I changed out the IDE cables and installed a patch from microsoft that controlled issues with VIA usb controllers...but thank you for your information and quick response...got my brain movin' before I had my pc thrown out the window :)

I built the pc myself. I don't care to much for the proprietary garbage

did you tweak any memory settings in the bios? i used to get this sort of error when overclocking too far

but it can be just down to win98 being "old" how long as it been installed without a format?

no, I haven't messed with the memory or the processor...It seems to work great now that I messed with my 3 cd-rom drives' jumper settings and changed a couple ide cables. Doesn't matter I leave for the air force in 8 days... so to hell with this pc, I will build another one if it's going to be a bastige..
