Title: Re-patch problems
Post by: JoeBWan17 on July 20, 2004, 09:42:25 PM
Its about 10:40pm EST, and every time I log in it tells me my version is out of date and I need to update.  It then downloads the full 2.00 Patch 6 (which I already had via incremental updates).  I went through this process the first time, but even after applying the full patch again it told me my version was out of date.

I probably won't have a chance to try again until Thursday, but any advice would be appreciated.

SOUNDS like the files are "read only"

couple ways to fix that.

1. go thru and make sure all the AH files are NOT checked read only (right click them, choose PROPERTIES and look.

or

2. copy your settings folder (and sights etc. if they custom) and delete and re-install.  download the full game again, then copy saved folders back.  (make sure copied/saved files are NOT read only)

I'll try this when I get home, but I don't understand what would have changed.  I had been on Patch 6 for a couple days already, and had sucessfully played on that level of code.  Why would it suddenly want to download the full Patch 6 and then continue to do it again even after a second install?

Sounds like you might have a bad link to the wrong executable on your desktop.  Just a guess.

I won't be back in town until tomorrow, but I'll bet anything you are right.  I probably slipped into the old habit of clicking AH1 icon instead of the AH2 one (probably should just delete the old one entirely from my desktop).  Thanks for the insight!
