Title: P-38 Pilots
Post by: Murdr on July 21, 2004, 12:20:56 AM
Akak and I both from time to time get requests for tips and help for the P-38.  Most of the time we are happy to help.  We aslo get inquires about starting/joining P-38 dedicated squads.  Regarding squadrons that favor the P-38, 479th Raiders (http://497th.jasminemarie.com) historically flew both the P-38 and P-51 during WW2, and members flying habits back through AW have reflected that, though it hasnt been required.  Active members that favor the P-38 include AKAK (http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/personalstats.php?sortby=killsin_sort&player=akak) Crims (http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/personalstats.php?sortby=killsin_sort&player=crims) Murdr (http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/personalstats.php?sortby=killsin_sort&player=Murdr) and ZZ3 (http://www.innomi.com/ahkillstats/personalstats.php?sortby=killsin_sort&player=zz3).  Many other names you might recongnize are currently inactive.  More P-38 enthusiest are welcome.  Just catch one of us online for more info.

Watch yourself around AKAK, he's a bad apple. Got my eye on you. Lil SOB. But all joking aside this is a great squad. AKAK, Murdr and Odege are all great guys. Good sticks as well. GL with the recruiting! :)

Yes, all of em died nicely in AW. And now die nicely in AH.

Funny, the AW people here (http://pilotrankings.airwarrior.furballcentral.com/index.phtml?sortby=other&page=1) dont voice that in the many opinions posted.  For that matter, where are you on that list?  Didnt leave an impression?  Many Raiders were former trainers and staff, do you try to help newer players, or just flame those who do?  Where were you during the thunderdome tournements?  I won five and started CMing them.  Dont recall you sporting your 'skills' there either.

SLO is so timid, he never stops running long enough to fight.  But then with his lack of abilities, running is his only option.

It's kind of funny how he tries to come here and start a flame war after getting his arse kicked in by DoK and +Brat in the Voss threads.  Give up SLO, you're just a little guppy in a big pond.

No offense, SLO, but why is it that every time I hear about what a great virtual pilot you are... it's only coming from you?

Now that SLO has been shown his proper place in life...

As Murdr said in his original post, any player that is interested in flying the P-38L and wants to fly with like minded players, the 479th "Riddle's Raiders" Fighter Group is the place to look.

But I die the best, a lot of colors and last twitches before death.

Come to think of it, I've seen you die in AW, and I've seen you die in AH. Ain't it cool how you can re-spawn?

Ever meet anyone who has not died the virtual death, a perfect flight record. Wait, let me answer that,..... No. ;-)

Then why do you insist on telling my "fanboys" how good you are if you don't value their opinions anyway?

I've always hated the 479th Raiders.  I still do... I'm talking about that deep seated, joystick throwing, kickin' the cat across the room kind of way. :D

In this thread or in general?  I could find plenty of threads where you basically state your flying prowess.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but it does seem obvious to me that you care what this community in general thinks of your skills, and to that end you seem to feel the need to point out your skills at every possible opportunity.

I like that 'what the community thinks'

ever think just maybe I really don't give a chit, just maybe I'm here to pass some leisure time. I pay my 15$ a month and that gives me the right to post on this BBS. What you or the community think just doesn't bother me any.

it might be the impression you get, that I try to come across as an attention seeker, but its most likely my above average communication skills that get me into trouble:D

and after 8 years of Flight Sim I know exactly were my skills are at. Do you know yours Levi?

and there's Ack-Ack calling me a Timid flyer, while my squaddies are still wondering how I turn fight a Tif vs. a Spit, question is, who to believe.

as an anti-fanboy I'll go with my squaddies view of things.

You keep saying this, but your actions seem to suggest otherwise.  On the other hand, you've got a point that it might be a communication issue.

I've got a good sense of what I can do.  However, I don't feel the need to advertise it, and I doubt most people care anyway.

I have no idea if AKAK's accusations hold merit.  Remember, I don't think we've ever actually met in the game, and I have never seen film of you flying.  As such, I have no real way of assessing how you fly or how well you fly.

I think if I have the time (and you do also) I will grab one of you 38 drivers for some winging.

In AHI I was pretty comfortable in the 38 and usually gave better than I got. Now in AHII I am about 1 for 1 or worse. Pretty sad state from my end of it considering it is my favorite ride. :) Mom and dad met at the Lockheed P-38 production plant during WWII so for obvious reasons that is my ride. :)

Wanted: Home for pet.

  • 1: Pays $15 bucks a month to post on this board.
  • 2: Thinks it has communication "skillz" just like it thinks it has "virtual pilot skillz."
  • 3: Has a hardon for Logitech sticks.
  • 4: Thinks Voss is a good guy.

Requires lots of space to fertilize grass. Perhaps a French family in WWIIOL.

anyone ever know what happened to tac and the TED(twin engine devils) ? i was with them for a while, remember  colblood, lazer, tac, fester, manetmp and a few others. that was a fun squad.

38 is one of the most exciting and enjoyable planes to fly IMO.

They are still here... We are all in a squad called "Army of Muppets" Lazer, ManeTMP,Fester,Kappa, myself and many other add-ons now. TAC doesnt play much anymore tho.

Wish Tac was still around.  Something about flying with that character made the game 10X better.
