Nuclear arms reportedly found in Iraq
Baghdad, Iraq, Jul. 21 (UPI) -- Iraqi security reportedly discovered three missiles carrying nuclear heads concealed in a concrete trench northwest of Baghdad, official sources said Wednesday.
The official daily al-Sabah quoted the sources as saying the missiles were discovered in trenches near the city of Tikrit, the hometown of ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
"The three missiles were discovered by chance when the Iraqi security forces captured former Baath party official Khoder al-Douri who revealed during interrogation the location of the missiles saying they carried nuclear heads," the sources said.
They pointed out that the missiles were actually discovered in the trenches lying under six meters of concrete and designed in a way to unable sophisticated sensors from discovering nuclear radiation.
The sources said al-Douri, who is related to former Vice Chairman of the Iraq Revolution Council and Saddam's right-hand man Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, was captured after Iraqi police intercepted an e-mail message in which he set a meeting with another former Baath official.
The report could not be authenticated by the interior ministry or the national security department, but the paper noted Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiar Zibari made a surprise request recently to Mohammed el-Baradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to resume inspections for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

"There is a rumor flying around that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq," based on a UPI report, "which has given the dollar an added bid," said Thomas Molloy, a trader at Bank Leumi in New York.
But the dollar's gains proved short-lived, after the Iraqi Interior Ministry said the report was "stupid," traders said."
Dunno seems like it was unconfirmed.....

The denial of WMDs in Iraq has always amazed me.
The missiles that were found early, early on with weapon heads that were for chemical, nuclear carrying war heads were for what ya think? Maybe Saddam was planning a big party and was going to pack the war heads with prizes, candy, etc....sorta a pinata with a bang.

I think some people are hoping nukes are found so they can say "neener neener". I hope like hell they aren't there for the obvious reasons. I don't give a rat's behind about vindicating an argument if the price of saying "I told you so" is loose nukes actually getting out there into rogue hands. I'd much prefer to be proven wrong about the WMD issue and sleep well at night as a result. (But, that's a whole other story, now isn't it?) Let's see what happens.

Finding nukes in Iraq will depress the **** out of me.
It drives me crazy that we seem to have been so wrong about the Chem/bio stockpiles (I for one, never doubted for a second that he had the weapons. Now, as to whether or not they constituted a threat... that's another story).
To think that we were wrong both about Iraq HAVING chem/bio weapons, and NOT HAVING Nuclear weapons disturbs me to no end.
Anyhow, I've bit on way too many of these WMD teasers, I'll wait for confirmation on this one.

This is a bad time to play the blame game. Wouldn't it be much more productive to actually identify and correct the problem? What has or hasn't happened in the past is really inconsquential if we adopt the attitude that good ideas can come from both sides of the fence and we take steps to start working together to actually make our country safer. Here's to the hope that at election time our voters have the common sense to accept the idea of a split ticket vs. the party line, and our government has the big picture in mind instead of the usual pandering bickering power struggles we've come to know so well. Then again, maybe I'm being a bit too optimistic.

Being former Intel myself and married to a current spook, I'm quite certain that I have a good grip on how it works, and who's to blame.

I know this will just make you're little Dem vs. Reb world crumble down around you, JBA, but it isn't only liberals who feel negatively about the WMD issue. Even after this amount of time though, I think actually finding nuclear warheads in Iraq would go a long way to mending those fences.

There have been plenty of WMD type finds that have turned out to be wrong, so lets wait for more news.. Personally I kind of doubt it at the moment.
But if true then it's simply incredible that Iraq had nuclear weapons on missles..

And didnt use them under the most increadable provocation imaginable.
These guys might not be there long I guess.
