id say georgia or kentucky.

has to be a midwestern state like In.
-
Not sure which state, but it was a well known fact that people from rural states made the best fighter pilots. The reason being they generally grew up hunting so had learned 'deflection' shooting as part of their culture.

lol dork!
where are you anyways?
You back from Vaca?
-
Yea RTSigma, but we still have to write it as Missouri. :D
I would guess the rural population in the U.S. was by far the bigger percentage in 1941?

When my brother joined the army he said "The recruiter promised me I'd spend 3 years in Missouri"
I quickly retorted "No Adam, you misunderstood him. He said 'You'll spend 3 years in misery'"
He ended up in Bosnia btw.

I will pick good old Wisconsin.
We produced guys like Bong, Mitchell, Slayton and Dutch Miller.
(not that they are all aces)
-
What city was Bong from? I've been to the Bong Recreational Area... neat place.
[edit]: Found it... on a farm outside of Poplar, WI. cool
-
"State" as in "Nation"? If you look at "the most aces per capita", then the answer is Finland. :)
Camo

The great state of TEXAS where else?
-
people wh were raised hunting birds rated the best. they understood leading their target. Didn't really matter what state.
-
I read somewhere within the past few months that most US aces of WWI & WWII were from the south. As you may recall that in "The War of Northern Aggression" the south was outnumbered 3 to 1 and the north had much better weapons, yet for every Southerner that died in battle 2 Yankees were killed. Unfortunately I did not get that aiming gene.
-
Camo I agree with you, but I meant as in states in the U.S.
I am well aware of the Uber Finland pilots. :D
DipStick how many aces from Texas? The only thing off the top of my head that I remember about Texan's from WWII is the Army guys that were saved by the Japanese-American division. :p

Way Way up north. I know they are building a memorial up there.
Bongs Nephew used to work for my uncle. I know he still is around the LaCrosse area, If I ever bump into him again, Ill have to pump him for a couple stories.
I also had the pleasure of meeting "Marge" a few years back up at oshkosh. very nice lady.
