Come over here, NUKE. I'll show you some good beers. :aok
-
It's why they stuff the lime down the neck.... stifles the stench some.
After my Black and Tans(the right way).... I do like Sam Adams .
-
The "Kool-Ade" of beers. Like...literally. When instead of "Kool-Ade" you want a refreshing drink...that isn't water...but beerish.

Yep, tastes alot better with the lime in it. Still sucks tho, really hate it.

I've drank Bohemian, Tecate, Dos Equis in Mexico. Some of them while traveling the Pan American highway into Mexico City. It was an experience, though we didn't go to Mexico City, we were on the Pan American Highway. We were headed to San Miguel. This was back in 79 and 80.
Those beers were barato beers, with the exception of Dos Equis. Bohemiam beer was about $1.20 a six pack, comparable to our Old Milwaukee.;)
Now it's $8.00 a six pack because it's imported. Probably better beer.

BTW Crumb, where have ya been? Don't cya in the MA much anymore. We have a squad BBS ya know. :p Ill make sure your added hehe.

Old Milwaukee is not a bad beer, believe it or not. I think it's one of the best beers. It's highly under-rated. and better than Busch or Schlitz. It deserves a class of it's own.

Corona would probably be better if they got rid of the damn clear bottle. By the time you get the beer it is light-struck and skunky.....same thing happens to green tinted bottled beer like Heineken. That is one of the reasons I hate Samuel Smith's stuff that is imported from the UK.....damn clear bottles. By the time it gets here to the states its all skunked out.
-
When I used to drink beer, anytime I was in Mexico (often) I always liked Modelo best.
I do agree Corona is nasty.
culero (saw the light, switched to whiskey a coupla decades ago)

Hey Nuke, you going by Nuke666 in the arena, or is that somebody else?

What Sling said. Actually, the way I understand it is the lime is used to kill the bacteria in beer so you could drink aged, sun-kissed beer without getting sick! (this being before the brewing processes we have today that keep beer fresh in the bottle or can)
If I'm going to drink a beer like Corona, I prefer Pacifico.
-
Corona's suggested shelf-life is one year. That should tell you something.
-
corona is disgusting, tastes liek formaldhyde
know that old joke about the guy being afraid of someone who can eat that much ice cream??
im afraid of anyone who can drink 12 corona's.
-
Yeah, but Corona keeps 10,000 old swayback horses gainfully employed in Mexico. Don't forget that aspect.
-
XX Dos Equis is my favorite Mexican beer. Goes great with a big ol' plate of the good stuff....

I just had a few this weekend. Not great beer. Not terrible either. Besides, I like the smell of a little skunkweed in my beer.
-
Ain't nothing wrong with "Mexican Miller", if you are in Mexico. Working the boats down in Cozumel, the beer truck would show up at the dock every day with fresh beer in old bottles-3.00 US per case for the beer, 8.00US for the bottles, if you didn't save them. Here in the states, it tastes like crap. Bohemia is the one to drink.
-
I prefer Negro Modelo when I am out eating fajitas and what not.
-
I do enjoy Tecate w/ some chips and salsa on occasion
though my regular beers are...
Hieniken or Rolling Rock- my "light" beers
Red Hook - My usual "day off" beer
Newcastle Brown- when planning to fly RAF that night
Duvel- Special Occasions

Last time I checked Modelo didnt mean man in Spanish, but think whatever you want. I spent 24 years of my life in deep south Texas about 30 miles from Brownsville....I have forgotten more Spanish than you have ever known.

Fresh Corona is really nice for a summer beer.
I buy it in the big cardboard box that is sealed against light (contains 4 6packs) and drink it before it really sees any light so I never had a problem with skunkyness.
I find if you buy beer in the US in 7-11 in clear glass bottles that can be a problem some times.
I used to put lime in the neck but now prefer it without. I am not in to all the pretenous micro brewery crap. When you make hundreds of thousands of liters at a time you better know what you are doing.

I just got back from 8 days in Mexico, overall mexican beer is pretty bad. The only one I actually care for is "Negra Modelo".
I drank Corona back in college (1982-86) because it was $1.99 a six pack, it was considered (rightly so) to be a cheap beer, but I could afford it. Ironically both it and Shiner Bock (it was $2.99 per 6-pack back then) were raised up to "premium" ststus by its popularity with college drinkers duing the '90s. I laugh every time I see Shiner Bock listed as "premium"...LOL.
-
It actually means dark beer, literally, black model.
-
Yah, the day they raised the price of Shiner was the last day I drank one. It was WORTH 2.99, it isn't worth 5.99.

Cerveza is a feminine case Spanish noun. la cerveza= negra
It is the name of the beer, it has to correspond with the noun gender. All Mexican and Spanish beers, cervezas, are feminine nouns because of this, and all proper nouns dealing with beer have to correspond with the noun case.
