THe wonderous Theresa Heinz shows a little more why Kerry and she are made for each other... they both have mastered the art of double speak! Topping it off with telling a reporter off because he had the gaul to question what she had said moments before...
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040726/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_heinz_kerry_shove_it
Yeah, she sure is first lady material...
-
But I didn't say what I said before I said it.
-
I'm picking up an accent on her.
Anyone notice?
What is that?
-
Yes, and Bush telling the whole world that "see that guy, he's a major *******" was a sign of class....
-
She will not make a very impressive first lady, but dont worry Kerry will have many second ladies during his term...
IKON

Just because she makes a big point of saying some things are un-American, and then declines to answer a reporter's repeated requests for some examples of un-American ...
hmmmm ...
is "Shove it!" an example of American or un-American?
Demonstrates once again gotta be careful tossing out generalizations unless backed up with some specifics.

Good link, Monk, thanks. Looks as if she has more than enough credentials to become an excellent first lady and the second foreign-born.
Wonder why the founding fathers exclude foreign-born from becoming president but don't mention foreign-born spouses? Guess they didn't think spouses are so influential after all.

I'll answer for Midnight Target:
You go Girl!

I wouldnt have thought that republican suporters would be so picky about how a person handles the press.

Heh..
Pretty weak argument, unless Bush made some statement that politics should be more civil mere seconds before that comment.
-
Yeah.. it is a bit ironic isn't it Pongo? But then, so is democratic supporters dismissing it offhandedly.
I can't say I care one way or the other. Reporters get no sympathy from me. The only disappointing thing in this situation is that she skated out of explaining the quote in question:
We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics.
-
Isn't she an un-american creeping into politics?
Actually, without seeing the tape, I would say, Go Girl! just because of the way most reporters act.
-
Yea CNN is practically gushing with flowery excuses for this satement. My favorie so far was one who mentioned that Teresa is a "Free Spirit."
-
Gee.. I wonder how many service men and women HER questionable press tactics have planted..
-
Id like to see the whole transcript of this guy questioning her.
The president doesnt let people even ask him un scripted questions. Much less grill his wife. If a reporter did do that to mrs bush you can be sure that this board would be full not of recriminations against her but with praise for her.

Prove how many the GOP have planted, instead of making blanket statements like a typical liberal pansy arse.

Typical Liberal Moral Equivalence. I know I’m a scumbag, but his worse then me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said he didn't see anything wrong with what Heinz Kerry said.
"It was mild, polite and appropriate compared to Dick Cheney," Rendell said.

It's not the point of declining to answer the question, it's the point that she LIED by saying that she never said it. Both her and Kerry have a funny way of changing things everytime they want, even though they fail to realise it makes them liars. Kind of a wonderful example of the morality of the democratic party, which is non-existent.

I guess the fact that she LIED is missed on you... then again, I would expect no different from some one of your calibre.

Good for her.

The reporter asks her the question - she throws a 30 second temper tantrum - repeating the words "I didnt say that, dont put words in my mouth" numerous times, and then leaves.
She then comes back, asks the reporter which paper he is with (Pittsburgh Review or something) and she says something to the effect of "Thats what I thought, you can shove it."
Although the reporter didnt get an answer to his question, he got something far better - he made the wannabe first lady look like a child.

lol, like I said, put up, or shut up.
FWIW, I am like this in person, 100% of the time. If I ever do see you, I would be more than willing to tell you that and more over a beer, the thing is, I may feel that your statements make you a "liberal pansy arse" but, will reserve the final verdict until I talk to you face to face.
Oh wait, you gonna beat me up like Mr. Black? :rofl

So what part of LIE did you not understand? Seeings that your liberally warped mind can not grasp a simple idea such as telling the truth, I will outline it for you!
Heinz Kerry attended a Massachusetts Statehouse reception Sunday night for fellow Pennsylvanians, telling them, "We need to turn back some of the creeping, un-Pennsylvanian and sometimes un-American traits that are coming into some of our politics." She criticized the tenor of modern political campaigns without being specific.
Minutes later, the Tribune-Review's Colin McNickle questioned Heinz Kerry on what she meant by the term "un-American," according to a tape of the encounter recorded by Pittsburgh television station WTAE. Heinz Kerry said "I didn't say that" several times to McNickle. She then turned to confer with Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and others. When she faced McNickle again a short time later, he continued to question her, and she replied: "You said something I didn't say. Now shove it."
The Bold clearly shows that she did lie, and was caught. Just what we need more liars in the white house.
Ohh, and I am sure, that under the current democratic lack of marality ideals, lying is still ok! As long as it's not intercourse, right?
-
LOL, Bodhi you're quite simply a fool if you believe either party could or would have a completely honest administration in the white house. But hey, if it makes you sleep better at night, keep railing against them eeeevviiilll democrats who are bent on destroying amurrika.
-
Here's a video of the future 1st lady.
Shove it (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5516476/)
-
She got busted not remembering what she said, and she got upset. She didn't handle the situation very well, but...she's not running for officer either. Pfft.

Neither group, republicans nor democrats are completely honest. For that reason, I am a registered independant.
As for the democrats, I see very few things that they do that makes me believe they have the moral fiber that I feel should be running the country. As for the Republicans, I feel that George Bush truly is a moral man, and that he means what he says, even when it is unpopular. Ol' FlipFlop can not say that, he is a contempuous person, and I fear that America will further slip into the bounds of immorality under his watch.
-
Actually, she split the hiar, ala Clinton. She conferred with the other Dems, and said, quite truthfully, that she did not say "un-American tactics", she said "un-American TRAITS". You decide, I am just happy when anyone tells the media to shove it, bite me, etc.
-
I swear she says, "Now shut up", not "now shove it". It's tough to understand her sometimes with that accent of hers.
-
In summary:
Your candidate said "xxx".
Oh Yeah? Well, your candidate said "XXX, so big whoopie!"
Oh yeah?
Yeah!
Ad nauseum.
Bottom line: When presented with the tough questions or even some pissant heckler in the media crowd, you have to keep your cool and your composure. "Shove it" or "shreck off" are unacceptable, and stress management is a part of the job.

I love this... Hillary was acting too presidential and Teresa isn't acting presidential enough.
-
Teresa H Kerry went up a few points in my book.
Kind of like Bonnie Bedilla punching the reporter at the end of 'Die Hard'. That scene got applause at the end of the movie, and THK gets applause from me for telling that reporter to shove it.
She would have had a better degree of difficulty multiplier though had she told him 'go F*** yourself'.
Cheney wins on degree of difficulty.
-
The problem of understanding situations like this is that they are rarely reported verbatim throughout the encounter. Various summaries omit much of the buildup and concentrate on the most dramatic quotes.
Without complete and accurate context, many quotes are either isolated and distorted or summarized with bias and distorted.
Ironically, sometimes the principals simply misunderstand each other instead of trying to intentionally mislead.
From the bits and pieces reported of this incident, it would seem that anyone would be justified in asking for examples of un-American and other generalizations. The degree of unpreparedness to provide specifics generally corresponds to the amount of temper exhibited.
-
She does not need to offer an explanation... she's Teresa Heinz....
