Title: Instead of "Lost UDP switching to TCP"

Why not... "You're about to get disco'd?"

Just wondering.

I get that message every time I log on now and I have been told that it's due to me being out of date by using a USB connection for my DSL modem  . Apparently an up to date video card wasn't the only thing I should have bought to run AH2, I also need an ethernet card to run my modem thru (go figure). I'm just waiting for Hightec to start selling flying helmets as a necassary piece of hardware to play :p

This is caused by preloading images, I believe. Hitech suggests logging into an arena, then if you get the message, log out of the ARENA, not the game, then relog into the arena and it should work.

What OOZ said.

A USB connection to a DSL/Cable modem just causes enormous overhead (roughly 16 times more overhead) for the CPU as compared to an Ethernet based DSL/Cable modem.
The USB bus is not a good bus for high data demand devices.  Sound devices using the USB bus are in the same category.

I'm not using USB.

Did not mean to imply you were.  I was just addressing USB in general as it was mentioned in the above post.

But to address what you said, I get the switch from UDP to TCP when I forget to disable my anti-virus software.  Not always, but most of the time.
And when it happens, I have yet to completely lose the arena connection.

I've never survived the switch.... not once.  Doesn't happen all that often but it's been a 100% chance of disco so far.  Just saying.
