My wife and I have always been fans of good Martinis. The ol liquer cabinet has a pretty full selection of vodkas since we don't do gin and I'm wondering if folks have some high end mix ideas for things like chocolate, lemon drop etc ....
Lets here em.. some folks must know thier stuff...>

Yep, forget the frills. Throw the vodka and some lime juice with ice in the shaker till cold. Strain into glass and throw it down slowly. Kamikazee!

OK, there has got to be some good bartenders here... toss me some advice/ mixes..> I still need to figure out a good chocolate martini and a few other options to offer guests...
-
There are 2 ways I know to make good chocolate martini's. You can use Kremyovskya Chocolate Vodka or you can mix vodka and Creme de Caco. Using either will give you a perfectly clear chocolate martini. Using Godiva or other colored cocolate liqueurs will only give you a murky, nasty looking drink.
There is the ever popular "Dirty Martini", vodka and olive juice. You can also make a variety of flavored martini's using popular liqueurs such as cinnamon, berry, orange, peach, ect. Using liqueurs is easy and makes colorful drinks.

Isn't that a gimlet?
Cocktails come in many forms. And the ones you orders can say much more about you than you want them too. I had a girlfriend once who used to laugh about the guy who ordered a mudslide on their first and only date.
Dune's cocktails of choice:
Mixed:
Bloody Mary - Good vodka, Clamato, horseraddish, salt, pepper, tobasco and garlic salt.
7 & 7
Bombay gin and tonic
Gimlet with Chopin vodka and lime juice
Crown and coke
Straight:
Goosling's Black seal rum
Appleton Estate Rum
Mount Gay Rum
Patron' Anejo
Herradura Anejo
Blanton's
Booker's
Maker's Mark

Ya, my first chocolate one was godiva and it was muddy and not quite "right".. Thanks for the pointer... I'll try the mix

Here it is a Kamakazee. It is to be put down to the point of "bullet proof" which is your first affirmation that you are well on your way to the ultimate goal of reaching "invisible".
Apple , triplsec, chocolate? Ewwwwwww......... you planning on wearing this stuff for perfume to the prom or you looking for something to wind your clock? Remember .... them taters gave their life to make this paint remover. It`s to be consumed not put in a friggin museum.
:D

The first recorded recipe for a dry martini required Plymouth Gin.
How's that for a history lesson.:D
-
Dirty Little Secret:
1.5 oz Vodka
1.5 oz Godiva Liqueur
stir (do not shake) on ice and strain into a martini glass
garnish with a Hershey Kiss
Great party drink. It's amazing how much alcohol that piece of chocolate will absorb by the time you eat it (surprisingly good buzz)

It's not always about sitting in a room alone getting smashed Jackal. Learn some social skills and you'll find women desire these things. Knowing how to make "girly drinks" is a skill every hetro male should know by heart.
BTW...most vodka's are made from grain, usually wheat. If you can find it Monopolowa is a great inexpensive potato vodka.

LOL Women can make their own "girly drinks" bud.
If you were to offer a woman one of them frilly l`il gems as described above around here you would get laughed out of the county. Women around here prefer an actual drink like Cuervo straight up, 151 Bacardi and Coke, Jack shooters or Jack and C, something in that line.
They also prefer men that have other skills, if you get my drift, rather than devoting their time to making doilies.
-
So as not to hijack, I looked this recipe up.
............................. ............................. ........
1/2 cup chocolate liqueur
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons vodka
1 (1 ounce) square semisweet
chocolate, grated
Directions : Serves 2
For best results, use a martini mixer.
In a cocktail mixer full of ice, combine chocolate liqueur and vodka. Shake vigorously and strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with chocolate shavings.

My cousin was a bartender in Lubbock while attending Tech. He claims to have invented the "Passover" martini.
He put chilled gin or vodka in a glass with olive, then took the vermouth bottle and tipped it about 45 degrees, banged it on the bar and the vermouth would "pass over" the glass.
Done.

Churchill is rumoured to have claimed that a martini is made by nodding toward France as you stir the gin with ice.
I guess I'm a purist: a martini consists of *good* gin, *stirred* with cubed ice and a dribble of dry vermouth, strained into a chilled glass with an olive.
Anything else is, well, not a martini.

I bartend in a high volume bar occasionally so I thought I'd share our rather popular high altitude Bloody Mary recipe:
16 oz chilled Glass
Good Vodka
Tomato Juice
Minced horseradish ('bout 1/4 tsp)
Celery Salt
Garlic Powder
A-1 Steak Sauce (liberal dash)
Worchestershire (couple of good shakes)
Tobasco (couple of good shakes)
Black fresh ground pepper
Invert into another glass and repour to mix.
Piece of celery for stirring. Will cure what ails ya.
As for martini's, I agree with Samiam 'cept we shake 'em.

Sounds good to me, but I`m worried about how well he developed his "social skills" as discussed above. lmao
I think maybe rpm should write a book entitled "101 Tips To Develop Social Skills And Drink Mixing To Pick Up Chicks For the Insecure".

chocolate martini
equal amounts of stoli vanilla vodka, and godiva chocolate liquour. Rim the glass with some of the godiva and dip it in some shaved white chocolate for a chocoate rimmed glass.
sold a billion of these
(I ran a martini bar with 102 martini's on the menu, we have 50 different vodkas and about 15-20 gins)
