Where do I dump the excess IQ points?

Didnt you get the DNC memo? No mean spirited arrogant liberal smugness during this weeks convention. We are supposed to show how forward thinking, hopeful and just how in touch we are with the commoners.

That's no trivial question... as the impact of this could destroy our wetlands and vital ecosystems.

I suggest a barge floating off the coast of Texas.

You mean the ones left over now that you've finally filled your brain to the "full" mark on the dipstick? Were you about a quart low or what?

Well, its a toss up.  To be conservative, you might have to dump a few IQ points.

But to be liberal, you have to be poor all your life (unless you are one of the democrats actually in office, then you must be amazingly rich and elite).

Any billionaires here among us?

Hows about those with a net worth in the mere millions of dollars?

How many in the hundreds of thousands pushin' close to a cool million?

I doubt many...

You tools are mere fodder for these guys....

Your rah rahing aint fooling some of us, for you are getting so totally owned it's embarrasing to watch sometimes.

Negative.

I can see the allure of the creeping of conservatism with age.

You wanna protect what you got.

But your quote is basically an admission of submission.

I'll choose humanity every single time until the day I die, and I won't surrender to the complete and tired illusion you unthinkingly toss out there...

As IF you are talking about yourself.

You worked hard Toad, and you got SCREWED.

No ifs ands or buts. It happened.

Go ahead, continue to be a soldier for false promises and weak slogans.

It's what they want, and in you, it's what they got.

Baffles the 5hit outta me.

We all have the opportunity to if we choose. Some are more inclined to make money, some are happy with their life no matter what income level.  So how does that figure into your analysis that You (tools) are mere fodder for these guys.... ??

Why should I let you tell me where the money I make needs to go?  Isnt that the opposite of freedom?

You're not looking deep enough or historically enough Nash.

Time marches on; the liberal of today is tomorrow's conservative.

Yeah, there's a few aging hippies out there. But odds are, you'll be just like the rest.

You'll someday likely be a balding sixty year old that the teens will be laughing at as hopelessly conservative.

It's the history of mankind.

Enjoy.

As for your assessment, it had me rofl.

Hey, when it comes down to it... on this BBS... that's pretty much all I'm aiming for. :)

So thanks.

But your attempt at categorization (or what the shreck ever that's spelled) is just smallish....

Lotsa folks glued to Oprah or making nifty Christmas hand puppets a la the chick who just got busted - totally drawing a blank on her name.

Point is, it means nothing.

I'll choose to live my life with integrity. You go ahead and choose to live it under incredibly asinine pretenses under the banner of... I-dunno-what.

You go girl...

Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you
If you’re young at heart
For it’s hard, you will find, to be narrow of mind
If you’re young at heart

You can go to extremes with impossible schemes
You can laugh when your dreams fall apart at the seams
And life gets more exciting with each passing day
And love is either in your heart or on it’s way

Don’t you know that it’s worth every treasure on earth
To be young at heart
For as rich as you are it’s much better by far
To be young at heart

And if you should survive to 105
Look at all you’ll derive out of being alive
Then here is the best part
You have a head start
If you are among the very young at heart

The essence of integrity is humbleness.

I am humble enough not to presume to know everything about you.

I'm merely interpreting the things you have said about your own life. And frankly Toad, your last one/two years don't paint a good picture wrt to how you got completely screwed.

I could be wrong... but that's my humbleness talking.

I may not always be right, but I'm never uncertain.

And I'm pretty certain here. I need to work on that, I know.

Ya know it ain't all just about money, though that certainly is important. Being a conservative, among many other things, means understanding that freedom ain't free (nor is it just another word). It must be protected, and not just with words but with actions. You don't have to give up any idealism to become a conservative MT, just open your eyes and wake up. :aok

BTW, I always felt the essence of integrity was firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values, in short, incorruptibility.

I've never actually heard anyone link integrity with humility or being humble.

I lost my job, correct.

It appears you don't know WHY I lost my job; it was medical.

I don't recall blaming anyone for my medical condition.

And no, I DON'T recall

"discussing the loss of your job and how you felt about said loss of job, repleat with links to letters of union bosses et al...?"

You may be confusing my job loss with a discussion about managment/union aspects of the overall demise of the US airline industry in the post 9/11 period.

But I surely don't recall anything I posted about "being screwed out of my job". I had a medical problem that caused the loss of my Class 1.

Stuff happens.

I don't miss the job either. The pay? Yeah.  ;)  The job? Nope, suxxored after 9/11 and continues to get worse. I salute the poor bastigees that continue to deal with the BS.

The reason may have been medical... But it got overshadowed with the picture you chose instead to paint.

You had a huge bone to pick.

If you're so happy about it now, why were you so unhappy about it then?

Nah.... Total BS...

Like I said, I aint gonna do the search... You go ahead and portray this however you want.

Toad, the impression I got from what you posted last year is that you were getting out because of the state of the airline industry, to protect your pension.

A quick search found a couple of threads:

Quote
As for the rest, believe me, I am not depressed or anything like that. This was merely a business decision based on my own research and experience.

I've flown as a profession (USAF/DAL) since 1973. Looking ahead, I see no more "good times" to be had between now and my mandatory retirement and I see a significant threat to my entire retirement package. When airlines are in bankruptcy, going to work is like going to a continuous funeral. I don't need that experience.

My SA may turn out to be wrong, but I'd rather lock down what I have than risk losing it all. Ask some US Air guys what happened to their pensions. They ended up with $0 when the bankruptcy judge terminated the plan.

It's just time to start a new career, that's all. I at least get to chose to do that unlike the millions of poor bastiges that have had the shaft rammed home and then broken off.

I'll be OK. As I said to a friend, I lived my fantasy for a long time, I guess now I have to grow up and find a real job.

So, that's all there is to say about it, Forrest!

Quote
No, old ancient retired folks like me still get passes but with a reduced priority. Last ones to get a seat basically.

And that should last as long as the airline does... possibly two more years or so.

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/defaultframe.html

Quote
Nifty, I'd cash them suckers quick. If AA goes Chapter 11 this week, all bets are off.

I am spending this weekend carefully contemplating and calculating submitting my early retirement papers Monday. Might as well try to salvage some of that. My brother at US Air lost all but about 15% of his retirement....... so far.

How does one turn voluntary "early retirement" into

?

As for this,

Quote
you were getting out because of the state of the airline industry, to protect your pension.

that was all part of the voluntary early retirement decision.

However, there would have been no realistic early retirement option available to me had I not been on long term disability due to the medical aspect.

There's quite a bit more to the decision, some of which might or might not be interesting to others. There are obscure factors that weighed heavily in it, like the GATT rate. I don't recall posting my entire rationale here; I'm near certain I did not.

All that aside, there's no way anyone can portray my decision as a situation in which I got

Quote
completely screwed

nor did I portray it that way. What you've posted backs that up, IMO.

As a former liberal you had a  deficiency so we will e mail about 120 additional IQ points.  that should bring you up to the minimum standard of 180 for conservatives.  Enclosed you will find your testicles.  Please be careful as we had a hard time making the correct genetic match to fabricate these for you.  don't be concerned about their small size they will in time grow commensurate with your voting record, stands on issues, contributions to the RNC and proper posts on this BBS.  Welcome aboard brother.

What a disheartening thread. :(

This board is really going to hell in a hand basket.

Only thing disheartening about this thread is the people who seemed to take it seriously.

Lighten up folks.

"This board is really going to hell in a hand basket."

The politics seen on this board are nothing more than a reflection of the politics seen in the country in general.

This election cycle bears a fair amount of similarity to the mud-filled 1828 election, right down to the incumbent who was painted as having "stolen" the previous election.

America certainly has its share of problems, but I don't think the mutual dislike our political parties have for each other is among them.  I'd be more worried if they actually started to like each other since then they wouldn't cancel each other out anymore.

I don't like the Deomcrats because of their pandering to left-wing fringe groups.

I don't like the Republicans because of their pandering to right-wing fringe groups.

I don't like either of them because of their reliance on Big Money (regardless of its source).

I tend to agree with G. Washington's assessment that political parties ultimately serve only to harm the country.  In fact....any beauracratic entity seems to harm the country since they tend to become self-serving.   At some point "constituents" turn into mere "voters" (or, for the business-minded, "customers" become "consumers"); after which time true representative democracy is lost.   We live in a time when elected officials of both houses now largely serve as representatives of their respective parties (right down to the "D" or "R" after their names), rather than representatives of the people who elected them.  Regardless of whether you identify with one of these parties, this is not a good thing.   The USA is in dire need of MAJOR campaign reform, yet I don't see it happening because the people running the show are the ones who need the fix.  Eventually something will have to give, and I hope it happens sooner rather than later.

More people need to lighten up when they are called dip****s.

And more people need to brag about how humble they are.

And like MT said... it was just a joke... a troll.. it's not like he really believes that.  Well... maybe just a little bit, but it's still funny.

Nash, Toad...quickly grab hands and head over to the beach.

Speaking of that one btw, does anyone have the original quote? What was it? I remember something along the lines of
"The rest of the night was spent holding hands with Pam trying to comfort her while [insert name] was having fun at the banquet laughing and drinking"

I dont think Ive ever laughed so much at a BB thread as that age-old "that dirty guy were sneak-snappning photos of my girfriends legs"-classic.
