Been following the other threads about this but I am not
understanding what they are and what they do.

Instead of using your keyboard keys or joystick buttons to change your views in the game, TrackIR used an infrared receiver to link your head movements to change the views in the game.
Move your head left and you pan view left. That sort of thing.

To help with this question I will suggest this link:
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/
And on that page you can find link on AH as game with TrackIR support:
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/games/aces.html
Briefly, Naturalpoint is company-manufacturer of TrackIR device.
With help of this device you can change views by head movements. For example you can turn your head on 5 degree and see on monitor 3 o’clock view. For 10 degree you can see your 6 view. Digits with angels ape not exact - just to explain main principle of working.
