Sheesh, a 1.17 K/D ratio on a perk plane, and an expensive one at that.

Slow planes and planes that climb like a brick will have much lower kills/time. Also, planes with low-altitude peak performance will have higher kills/time. That'll save you some of the suspense.

Bet that has a lot to do with selecting it by mistake when upping at a vultched field. I watch one poor dude up at least 10 times at a field once. I finally sent him a private message that he was upping in a spit 14 and well ya I vulched him a bunch of times first but hey mistakes are painfull for a reason. So you remember not to do it again. :aok

Should there be a confirmation dialog for taking a perk plane?
Or is that too much hand holding?

Probably to much hand-holding, but it still is a pretty good idea.

I wonder what impact perking the 3 gun LA7 would have.

Not much, if any. It is slightly harder to get kills with the 2 gun loadout, but people don't fly the La-7 so they can get kills, they fly it so they won't get killed.

The facts dont seem to bear that out since LA7 has a noticable advantage in the number of total kills compared to the next highest plane.
Or should I ask instead which planes are actally flown to get kills?

If someone is just looking for kills they'll up a spit or nik. Just because someone flies the La-7 so they won't die doesn't mean they'll never get any kills.
The only real meaning I can see behind the La-7 being in the top spot kill-wise is there are a lot more ******* flying AH than ever before.

A spit or nik often wont get you a quick kill in todays fast arena...

There is another reason. Getting close now really matters if you want to hit. In AH2 the Spitfire and N1K2 both rely on their enemy being slower than them, an unusual circumstance, and then simply cutting their corner whereas in AH1 they could rely on the spray and pray to kill a fasgter egressing aircraft. The La-7 and other fast aircraft enables the pilot to get to close range without relying on the enemy making a mistake and can also easily egress from slower aircraft like the Spitfire and N1K2.
Speed enables killing much more in AH2 than in AH1.

Most La7 I see up are in it for the HO.... easy killin' with all those cannons. Very few fly with any tactics or skill.

You can pretty much say that about about any cannon-armed plane it seems.

If I see an LA7 anywhere else but on my tail at 400 yds, I say "easy kill"
If they are on my tail, I say "slightly harder kill"
thus is the skill level of a a majority of the La7 pilots in the MA. There are SOME good pilots, but they are a slim minority.

The P38 pork in auger dweebs ruin the K/D for our bird.
