Well, to be honest it is not that exact car, but it was the only image I found with a quick google.

First impressions are good. A very solid car.

Ford = Best trucks on the market.  Dodge trannies blow, Chevy steering boxes are still weak.  Toyota is a close 2nd.

That's not a Focus but Mondeo; size is closer to Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable than Focus.
Nice car with very good handling (cops are having plenty of Mondeos here), bit old model already but also free of small bugs new models sometimes have.
Very good purchase IMHO.

Edit: Mondeos were also sold as "Ford Contour" earlier in some market areas; maybe in US too ?

Yup, Its got a big blue ford-mark at the rear. I suppose the bolsheviks will try to lynch me now for supporting the US war on Oil..or something.

Oh well... :)

Hortlund like it or not but Mondeo is 100% European car, if you want a US Ford you better sell that mondeo away and buy yourself a Mustang; it's about only US Ford which is sold in Scandinavia.

Yeah, it would be the Contour here.

Except I don't think we get the wagon in the US, everyone here thinks they need jacked up motor home instead.

Learn your cars!

It's a Focus in the USA.  Looks like an '05 Focus to be exact.  The '05 has a distinctive front end compared to earlier models of Focus.

The "Contour" name is no longer used in the USA and hasn't been for several years now.   Furthermore, no vehicle ever sold in the US under the "Contour" name ever had a wagon option.

The Mondeo is a Contour.. it's a little bit larger and has a new wagon option.  We don't get to play with it.. or the Taurus much longer, although neither were worth a grain of salt unless they were SVT for the Contour or SHO's for the 89-95 Taurus.

There's small difference between Focus and Mondeo, about 30cm and 5k$

You can compare both models easily in Here (http://www.ford.co.uk/static/all_cars/).

Because you get to pay 15% extra just for the name.

Anyway, Im not rich enough yet to buy me one of the newest model volvos, so I figured better to get a good Ford than a semi-good volvo.

Calling it a Contour is incorrect.

Earlier (1990's) Contours were indeed = to a Mondeo.

However--2000 was the last year for this.  For the 2001 model year the Contour name was discontinued and the Mondeo was substantially re-designed.  It is no longer the same vehicle.

In all honestly it isn't exactly a Focus either, and I was exaggerating calling it such.  It's a unique vehicle which happens to share some commonality with the new US Focus (like the same 4-banger engine).

What do YOU drive Eagler?

Sounds like you bought the wrong American car.

One thing US automakers aren't really good at yet is copying the European or Japanese go-karts (they call them small cars).  If I was silly enough to want to buy some sardine-can like a VW or a Honda, I would buy the real thing and not Ford or Chevy's inferior copy.

Of course I'm not silly and nor is my wife so we're both happy with what we drive.  My cousin, on the other hand, just bought a new Cougar and sitting in the back seat of that should be considered a form of "cruel and unusual punishment".  He already hates it.

You looked quite sure at this point but what do I know, my Peugeot is surrounded at our parking lot by Ford Focus, Honda Civic, VW Passat and surprisingly a Mondeo...
btw wanna guess what's that white STW behind my 307's nose (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/peugeot307.jpg)?

Oh well; you said "Learn your cars!" so guess I need to go out and look more carefully all those european cars here....

Well I said that because someone had said that the Mondeo is a Contour.  It isn't.  The issue in my head raised due to the fact that in 2000 the US Contour was discontinued and the Mondeo was extensively redesigned.

Unfortunately I went too far in the other extreme--I was somewhat incorrect when I said that the Mondeo is a Focus.  While the new Focus does indeed share some parts in common with the Mondeo (the basis of my own misconception), they're technically different models.  I'm still not sure exactly how different they are, so I'm taking my own advice and looking up more info.

Another would be to build an automoblie that can be driven at 260 kph on a daily basis without rattling apart after a few weeks, seen any Vettes on the Autobahn lately?

They are working on it.  First they must master the task of creating turn signal stalks with less than 3" of free play.
In our lifetimes Daimler-Chrysler will be the only US car maker, mark my words.

My first car in the US (7 years ago), bought it $300. Could seat 10 people, or fit an entire couch in the back. It was so rusty that I could do like the flintstones. I had to put a woodboard to rest my feets to operate the pedals:D
Almost ended up on the road having sex in the back:o

I remember mondeos, they look more like Hondas now it seems. Sure you will enjoy the practical aspect, WTG!

I almost bought one too, fell in love with the art deco front and the choped top look. Refreshing nowadays. The rear sucks, maybe the old 300/condor model rear would have suit me better.

ALAS, in South central LA, there are tons of them. Any little gangster raper wanabee bought one, probably because of the Bentley look.

Thus I elected to hang on and restore my old bucket:aok
