Confirmed Kill:

did anyone ever play this game? What was it? I have never seen screen shots but ive heard of it.

You are going back a couple of years on Confirmed Kill.  

I believe it died a quiet death in either 1999 or 2000.  EIDOS put out a lot of publicity on it and they did have some nice looking screen shots that I used as wallpaper on my computer.

Welp...you are playing its illegitemate love child :). Confirmed Kill was the name of the first game HT created. As I remember...it was stillborn.

You're both right. CK was an early version of WB, but not really, since there was a major overhaul for WB beta. There was a different CK game that came out in 98 or 99 that also never saw the light of day.

When starting out my first game was CK, it was using a Grapics eng from domarc (Domar and Eidos later merged). ICI and Domark sarted having disagreements. We droped the graphic eng and used one from Graph Sims instead. ICI had the copywrite for the Name CK, but wrather than a long piece of confusion we just changed the name to Warbirds and continued on. Domark then tried to continue the Hype that was generated by the CK name and put out a different online flight sim, but failed to deliver.

I still have the beta CDs to the CK "re-release".  The terrain was a step up for the time, but the rest was unremarkable.  I do know it had rumors of a re-release in the 2000's some time, but I don't think that ever materialized.

The graphics engines have come a way - but the game was hell fun back then as well    :)
