My proposed solution to the Rook Horde:
Bring the night back to the MA.
That way us bish not only can't see the Rook Raids on Dar, But we can pretend we don't see them period.
:D
It might also force some of the Rooks off for about 2 hours a day.
-
*BUMP*
-
We'll cover the skies full of Rooks so it gets dark. Fair enough?
-
Either will do.
I'll up my Osti and just shoot at the sky. :D
Bring on the flying carpet of carpet bombers!!! More perkies for me!!!
-
I have noticed very few of the Bring Back The Night threads...wonder why that is. ;)
One thing is for sure...there's a whole lot less of them than the old Get Rid of Night threads.
:)
-
no
-
Bring back night in the CT every once in a while....
but in the MA... no way.
-
Why no night mode in the MA?
...Oh yeah, because there are so many wusses that will cry about it.

Good, we shall fight in the shade. (Spartan response?)
-
I enjoy it both ways.
Night time brings its own challenges for flying. But it is a great time for NOE runs & ground vehicle attacks.
HT will listen till the bring back night threads are louder than the no night threads then switch it again.
At least thats my prediction.

Because our planes are designed to fly in the daytime, locating targets visually.
-
some aircraft during the golf war were not used because they were unable to fly at night and bomb
almost all aircraft in WW2 were unable to fly at night at all without huge risk

well i liked night bacuase without the icons lancs were invisible, now they are just huge black dots. i miss night and want it back, all the furballs whine because they cant furball at night boohoo.
-
With everyone jacking their gamma, there really was no night, well at least not in the universally/equally handicapped sense. The dusk/dawn thing we have now is good enough, you still can't see very well, but WW2 planes did do alot of dusk/dawn missions so it's not as totally unrealsitic as our day fighters flying at night was before.

As soon as night gets here -I'll be waiting on the searchlights...if searchlights are here...that means theres gonna be a lot of other stuff here also :)
-
Night flying in my P-51D ruled on AH, even though I rarely lasted longer than 10 minutes.
Now that I play regularly, I'm quite confident that I can last much, much longer than that at night.
-
The Dusk/dawn thing is a very fitting compromise.
Thinking about the (Ground Clutter permanently on now)
the Noe's would certianly consume a lota AC in the trees. heheh
Im not sure how Night time made NOEs any better. Most NOEs i fly rarely get jumped enroute. They usally get jumped after we rise above dar.
-
no one cares about the knights, they suck :D
-
I really miss the night. As soon as dusk came you had a great opportunity for Bomber runs, Gv attacks, safer Goon flights etc.
I wasn't here (account active) when they changed it else, I woulda MOANED just as load as those that didn't like night time. I mean for Christ sake night time lasted less than 1 hr. 2hrs if including all of dusk dawn.
I tried to help those that just couldn't see at all. Either I was terrible at explaining how to set Gamma or folk were just to Piggin Lazy or Dumb to fix it. Now everyone has a GAMMA slider in settup / Video. It ain't bleedin Rocket science.
I would like to see night fully restored But, HTC, why not a compromise. Bring night back but for a shorter period. The furballers can still "click, fly, die". Once they realise night ain't the big deal they once thought it was perhaps fully restore night.
-
Gotta put into account how many Bish don't like night either. Think about your Country! :p
-
as lynx said, night was only for like 1 hour...while day is 23hours............
i just dont understand why it was such a problem.

Fugg'em :D
In all seriousness I loved night fighting but realize that it'll be a while if evar before it comes back. I started the post more as a response to all the Bish numbers sux/punish the Rooks posts. :(
No really fugg'em the bish have collectively failed to cash in on plenty of opportunities in the MA.
Hey we're outnumbered. Then again I've been getting 8 perkies per kill. :)
I'm sick of the whining. And frankly being this badly outnumbered doesn't bother me. We destroyed A41 around 9:30pm EST yesterday only to watch a vulchfest ensue where no one kept the base porked and some moron ran the carrier right up to the unsupressed base. The word "dumbplows" kept repeating in my head.
My biatch is done. Carry on.

In what way is that a good thing?
Here's a thought. Instead of night, let's have an hour in the MA where all Lancs are invisible.

What's the point of "night" if you're just gonna turn up your gamma anyway?

No nights please.
People have this weird fantasies about gaming fun that somehow exotic, abnormal environmental conditions will add to realism and fun.
I play IL2/FB/AEP on a normal basis and can't believe the frustration I have to go through to find a decent gaming room. Dusk, dawn, night, poor visibility, rainstorms, super fog, super ack fire, etc etc....
But the bare truth is 90% of normal operations were literally under "normal" conditions - daylight, acceptable visibility, good weather.
Harsh weather, storm, extreme fog, night time and etc. abnormal environmental conditions were reasons to cancel flight operations. Night time was a theater for specialized planes operating in pitch-black darkness equipped with special gadgets and gizmos.
Sometimes(like maybe once a month in my case), fighting in night time or storm fronts can be fun, but having it as a regular part of arena gameplay just simply cuts down my playtime significantly.

Amen brother! <>
Most that want night back are Bomber jocks who want a 'free-pass' to their targets where they have a much less chance of getting their arse shot off by fighters. In that sense they are supported by WW2 reality. The British operated their bomber fleet entirely at night after the US entered the war for that very reason. Their bombers lacked the defensive weaponry and long-range escort to bomb during daylight when they were apt to be intercepted by fighters.
So, if you are a bomber jock night is great, for everyone else it's a time to go play another game or screw with your gamma settings and shorten the life of your monitor.

Zazen I think you and Kwessa are right 90 percent of the time (to pull that stat out of my prettythang).
I can only speak for myself on this -- but it's the challenge of the abnormal in contrast to the normal that is fun in this game.1 hour of night out of 23 is not entirely unreasonable to ask for.
Everyone here likes this game because we don't like "normal" dumb AI's all the time we want the CHALLENGE of matching our skills against other human opponents. Those who aren't look to use the "unmentionable c-word that gets threads locked". Or turn their gamma up etc. I'm not interested in them, they aren't who i live to fly against.
All I'm asking for is night where I can try my hand at night interception, at night time bombing raids, or the closest aproximation to it. If its not perfect - oh well - it's a simulation. But no night at all. That's sad. Not a deal breaker but still would be nice.

When AH has search lights then we'll talk.

Just put in the huge fog/haze thing that was all over the UK in the first part of BoB Frame 2. You cant see anything more than 2K away from you and can barely see the ground above 10K!

Unfortuneately I don't believe night will ever return to the MA, it spoils the furballers little excursions. They whined loud enough it was removed, just like the fuel change etc etc etc.

This is actually 2 whines in one. Boohoo there are too many rooks, and Booohoo they like to fly together.
Instead of putting all this effort into lobbying people on the BBS, why not get about 10-15 of your friends together and start rampaging bases away from the 2 furballs going on at that time. Believe it or not you can do a lot of damage this way.

Ummm howitzer let me help you with that hook in your mouth ...read it again it wasn't a whine... I was actually just offering a bullchit solution (the lobbying was a happy coincidence.) :D It was a response to all the whining babies who biatched about side imbalance.
Sorry bud, barking up the wrong tree.

You are probably right.. I didn't read all the posts, I suppose we are on the same side, tired of hearing all this BS about night time and imbalance on teams... just got the better of me. If you know anyone who feels the way I chastized (and without justification) you for, pass my feelings on please :D
Bwahahahahaa
See you up.

Really. What did they do if they couldn't see. Searchlights? We don't have any.
I can see how searchlights would be cool, especially if they could be player controlled.
