Is there a way to lock the tail wheel? I looked in the online manual but didn't see a command for it.

Docs aren't updated yet, but holding JS 50% back locks TW while taxing.......

gunnss,
I tried that but it didn't work out too well. If I pull back on the stick, the planes lift off too soon and don't have enough airspeed to stay up. If I don't pull back, the plane rolls all over the place. Rudder input just make me do "S"s down the runway. I don't remember this happening before that last update.

Once you have enough airspead that the plane wants to fly, push the stick forward and get the tail off the ground. Use your rudder pedals to keep the nose pointed down the runway. You should be able to lift off the runway in a few seconds.
I'm not a big fan of holding the joystick 50% back to lock the tail wheel. When taxiing a tail dragger you have to hold the stick back on the stops the whole time. When you do this in AH you cant make turns so it creates a bad habbit of taxing with the stick in nuetral or foreward. Granted it's a game, but something done so repettivly could cause bad habits in real life.

I think it's only 25% back pressure to lock the tailwheel. I tend to pull back to lock it until about 80mph, then you can release it and you have enough airspeed for normal control. That way you don't accidentally lift of at too low a speed.

At 80 mph a spit V is already in the air.
But basically i just let the lock go when the airspeed is enogh to lift the tail, then rudder works. On my spit i let it go at 60.

Ok, maybe I'm just holding it back too much.
thanks

63 just hold it back till the bird your flying has enough airspeed to lift the tail wheel. Some birds will have enough speed at around 60 to 70 mph to do so. Then just transition to controlling your yaw with your rudders.
