I decided to go with the self-extracting rar file from win-rar. They have a new beta and I was able to get it in under 100mb.
Anyway - here's the link:. Waffle's AH2 soundpack Version 2.0 (http://www.dangreve.com/Wafflesoundpack2.exe)
Install to you AcesHigh directory.
-
Is your sound package as good as Mitsu's Sound Package?
-
I wonder how he would go about answering that.
-
depends on how good his computer is at running it... :)
-
What is the difference between Mitsu's and yours? I cant play AH2 untill like saturday so I was just woundering?
-
about 120Mb unzipped :)
-
I have Mitsu's Sound Package on a cd. So instead of me D/L another sound package would Mitsu's work or should i use your?
-
Theres 3-4 different ppl with sound packs now. I hear the best things about Waffles tho. Fruda,Waffle both have packages out and Mitsu has one on the way.
-
actually jay, you can look at post for 1.8 and see what was changed and added from 1.7.
V2.0 deals mostly with tweaking individual aircraft sounds (engines/flaps/gear, ect..) as well as mutiple other changes too numerous to list here.
there is about 4 different stall warnings in the pack for different plane types if that gives you an idea of the details.......
-
Thanks Waffle:aok
-
oh yeah - Lucell and Viper :)
Mirrors appreciated :)
Thanks for hosting the last round.
-
Mirror (http://ah-skins.com/waffle/download.php?file=Wafflesoundpack2.exe&id=3) :)
-
Would I be allowed to publish a lower quality (22kHz, 8bit) version? It's a 28MB SFX archive. :)
-
Actually I'd like to preserve the sound quality, as that was what I mostly did, was re-eq and clean -up sounds.
I can tell the difference if you drop it down to 8bit. And if any one in the future decides to use any of the sounds for another sound pack -I would hope they would have at least decent audio quality to work with.
I'd rather leave the integrity of the pack instead of having a smaller download.
Have to edit that - least the sound quality integrity :0
-
Waffle I have ver 2.0 loaded but I get no sound in the game. Have listened to the files from explorer and they work, but in game nothing. Put all volume sliders up all the way and nothing through speakers or headphones. Ideas????? Thnx
-
Did you place the sounds folder that unzipped into the Ah2 directory?
You should've been asked to replace files if in correct place.
Basically the package unzipps a "sounds" folder. you can extract it anywhere. But it needs to end up in you HTC / Aceshigh2 directory - replacing the sound folder that is currently in there.
-
yes I did that, it didn't replace anything as I renamed my sounds forlder and created another empty sound folder. The sounds play fine out of the sounds folder but not in game
-
Is the folder that has all the extracted files labelled "sounds"?
-
I have no problem with providing a mirror for your package. But honestly, the quality difference between 16bit and 8bit is very small. Also some sounds are quite noisy (that's why I start mixing with mitsu sounds) and there the 16bit make no sense.
So, if there are people with low bandwith and crappy speakers/headphones 28MB seem to me more reasonable. (note: it's hard to hear that difference in game)
Whould it be a problem to make a Waffle low fidelity and high fidelity sound pack? :)
-
you can make it if ya want...but i want to hear it first :)
Btw - which sounds do you think are too noisy? wondering if I missed something...........
Need to post a link to goldwave here also - so folks can edit their own volumes / eq's of certain sounds...lol
-
Typhoon, P47 and 190A5 sounds like it has no oil left.
Didn't test all by now.
I will upload it and email you the link tomorrow. :)
-
lol - gotta have a few not so smooth running engines somewhere :)
-
Yes, the folder is named sounds. I have Mitsu's sounds and AH sounds also. When I run a diff sound pack I label that one sounds and the others soundsmitsu, and soundswaffle etc, so they don't interfere.
-
u really need a better hosting site mirros i get about 27kbps his i get 60 i usaly download 5mbps hehe going to take me 33min u gota do something about that hehe havein a race with mirror and host hehe thin mirrors going to win

It seems as if you have got the new Waffle 'sounds' folder inside another 'sounds' folder which also contains your mitui sounds folders etc.
If that is the case it wont work. AH2 looks for the sounds in the top folder, not in a sub folder. You will have to rename the current top folder to 'sounds archive' and move the Waffle 'sounds' folder to the AH2 folder.

Sorry it's late, here's another mirror

-

-

-
Ok, I need a play by play rin through on what to do after you download the file. Im slow when it comes to computers. It would be very much appreciated.
-
Waffle, ya still a no go. Don't really get it, I have re-installed 3 times not sure what is up? hmmmm, well, will keep plunkin away at it
-
hmm - I'm gonna download it and eyeball it...can't imagine what's causing that SNO
Theres several ways to go about it the instal BlueJ
You can download it to your desktop and extract the files there - then manually drag the extracted "sounds" folder in to the AH2 directory replacing the current sounds folder there - or you can rename the current sounds folder to "sopundsdefault" and then place the extracted sounds folder in the Ah2 directory. This preseves your old sounds as "soundsdefault"
-
ty for sounds mate :aok
-
Nice sounds, is panzer supposed to sound so wimpy ?
-
BluJ, in you sounds folder, is there more folders with individual vehicles?
-
will this sound packet work on AH1. I want to hear the sounds for AH2. I'm getting my comuter next week.
-
Yes.. Download the packet, then open the folder, select all the folders and drag them into your AH Directory sounds.
-
should say all content - even the .wav files that aren't in folders are not default.
-
Also: if you do install this -
Set all Volumes at 80 in your AH preferences - soud settings. It's on clipboard. Then tweak levels from there. I based the volumes off a default setting at 80.
A easy way to do this is open your ah folder - goto settings, then open the "sounds.cnfig" file with notepad.
Here you can easily change all the volumes back to 80, instead of using the slider on the interface.
-
Waffle, did you get my email with the link?
-
CC lucell -
Listened to them idividually and can definetly hear the noise thats develops when you drop down in bit depth.
I'll stick it into the game in a bit and try it out as a whole.
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
-
FYI
new tank gun patch floating around this forum somewhere to replace the current panzer tankgun.wav in 2.0
-
For those of you having issues installing Soundpack v2.0
Alright here we go: This is the easist way I can think to do it.
Download and extract the files to your desktop. You should now have a folder labelled sounds on your desktop, and inside that folder should be folders of all the planes, ground vehicles and other sounds (in.wav).
Ok goto you AH2 Directory. There should also be a folder named sounds in there. Right click and select "rename".
Name it to "oldsounds".
Go to the extracted sounds folder on the desktop and right click, copy. Then right click / paste it into the Ah2 directory. You could also "click and drag" the folder in.
Now your aces high directory should have these folders in it:
ahiterr
cache
films
maps
missions
setting
sights
skins
sounds
*oldsounds
squads
sticks
ect....
After that - restart Ah2 and all should be good.
-
Waffle , just wanted to say that you are doing a great job and to keep up the great work <
>
-
Punting this up for those kids that can't find it...lol
2.0 - not 1.8 :)
-
I unzipped to the desktop and then copy and pasted to the AH2 directory and now all is fine. The problem I had unzipping into the AH2/sounds folder that it was always creating a subdirectory with the files in it and apparently that was the problem with not getting any sounds. Wierd thing is, that is how Mitsu's sounds are and they work fine?? No matter the sounds are working now
Thanks for the sounds Waffle >
-
cool SNO,
Glad you got it to work.
-
HA! I've been using this pack since it's birth on this forum and NEVAR noticed some of the cool stuff waffle adds. Is the funny check6 and warning stuff new to this version or has it always been there?
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
-
I think i added the humorous stuff in 1.8. You just have to look for it, then change the name of the file to check6.wav or warning.wav
-
Waffle - using your sound pack and Im having a problem: I only hear sound during the engine start sequence, when the stall warn is active, or wind noise pikcs up.
Any ideas?
-
Go through the downloaded folder and click on some files and play them. See if it might be a possible corrupted download.
Also, maybe remove the original sounds folder complety from the ah2 directory, where you only have the downloaded sounds folder in there.
-
Just got some good news -
Found a guy whos sending me CDs and a bunch of files of authentic recordings of period aircraft from a personal collection. I've also ran across alot of footage of GE panzer/ tiger operations which have some excellent useable audio that I should be able to extract and clean-up for use as vehicle sounds.
looks like work on 2.1 shall begin soon....

Recently went ot ain airshow.
One of the performing planes was a Yak (dont remember the model)
But one of the things that struck me was compaired to their american counterparts. the engine did indeed sound as if were low on oil.
Might be thats just the way they sounded
-
hehe going to take me 33min u gota do something
LOL Your in no position to complain. With my wonderful dial up at 26k the most I can download is about 70 megs. Takes me about 8 or 9 hours. Consenquently I can't even download Waffles sound pack. :(
Waffle you going to the Con? If so could you.... oh actually I can just download it from there. I am sure my connect will be fast at the con. ;)
-
thnks waffle loved the spitfire eng sound
-
Daddog, I am not currently planning on attending the con due my schedule. Hopefully I will have a newer version of the soundpack up by then. Not sure what the dates are for the con...
I'm sure you could download it there. I'm not sure if they hand out disk there for the con, but if they do, I might be able to get it added on as an "extra" if I ask really nice. Again, that is an option that I know nothing about.
Also I will probably release it as WINRAR file without the self extraction utility.
You would have to download WINRAR to unzip it, but the soundpack download would actually be alot smaller than it currently is.
I honestly prefer WINRAR to winzip, due the compression abilites.
I think you can locate it at http://www.rarlab.com
-
BTW for anyone not hearing the sounds when extracted.
Make sure they go into your AHII folder.
I Noticed the autoextractor is currently set to extract into the AH folder not the AHII folder
-
For everyone that has been asking and can't find it - heres the soundpack.
Didn't want to punt per se, but lots of people asking where to D/L from -
